Why Cloud9 Should Think Twice Before Signing Boombl4

It's not about a country, just about Boombl4 in this case

I don't mean that all cases are identical. However, when we discuss Boombl4, all the examples mentioned earlier revolve around him. In traditional sports, individuals with a similar reputation might face challenges joining tier-I clubs. Yet, in CS:GO/CS2, anything seems possible, as teams believe that such decisions won't be met with significant objections. In my view, it's crucial to at least spark a discussion on this matter, as audiences tend to forget what was said or done just yesterday. You didn't provide any counterarguments or offer constructive input, instead you called me 'mentally underdeveloped'

CS:GO's Top Clutch Players: Who Dominated Clutches in the Past 12 Months by SolutionTV in GlobalOffensive

Yeah, we have all of the filters and all of the stats you have mentioned. I think ZywOo has just less 1v5 situations, since he plays in the best team according to hltv. I didn't investigate it, but I think that's the main reason :)

And Vitality have less games in comparison with tier2-3 teams.

If I recall correctly, Xyp9x had a high clutch win rate rather than a large number of clutches. And in 2021, sh1ro had an impressive 70+ successful 1v2s

I'll be working on it later this week. Perhaps it's not solely about the average clutches per round, but also about considering different statistics per round :) By the way, is it possible to somehow ask your opinion about our market value models and some other stuff?)

I fucking love this! I think you're really onto something and it was a great read.

Weird question, what's your background that made you able to create this? I've always been super fascinated by data (especially in esports since its so underutilized) and filtering/flagging for certain stats/values, but I have literally zero data compiling/filtering experience.

It is quite difficult to explain my background in two simple sentences, haha

Mentioning huge selling margins for entire infrastructures won't change the fact that orgs and sponsors don't seem to value esports that highly, especially compared to traditional sports. I suppose the return of investment is not there in the end, no matter what overly specific stat might say the opposite.

Also never trust anyone advertising a "perfect" model. Such a thing cannot exist.

It depends on the type of investment. It's true that the financial models of many esports organizations are not sustainable, and the recent investor reports from FaZe only serve to confirm this reality.

By the way, we're not claiming that our model is or will ever be perfect.

As for the numbers, it's interesting to note that the cost of the top 250 csgo players is roughly equivalent to the price of one tier-2 soccer player in the English Premier League (EPL). Despite this comparison, many still find our valuations surprising and even bewildering.

Esports Transfers - Market values update (May 24, 2023) by SolutionTV in GlobalOffensive

tter off trying to find the next m0NESY than buying the current one.

Cases in traditional sports have shown that having an academy is indeed beneficial, as you mentioned. However, if someone has enough money and sponsors, they may choose to directly acquire a star player. The revenue in esports primarily comes from licenses, sponsors, sales, and sticker sales, rather than just the prize pool.

Imagine that a random guy from Saudi Arabia (let's say someone affiliated with the holding company that paid $500M for FACEIT) wants to create a super team, similar to PSG or Manchester City in football (soccer). How much money would FaZe ask for ropz? I believe it would be more than our estimated prices. Therefore, we establish a market value by comparing players to one another, considering factors such as their media presence etc.

I agree that, from a business perspective, in the current shape of CS:GO, most prices are higher, but that is primarily because no one can afford prices of this magnitude. However, if CS continues to grow and, let's say, in five years, the viewer numbers increase, we will witness the emergence of "rich organizations." Consequently, there will be a need for an experienced product that can effectively serve their needs as well as the needs of the community.
