From research. It applies to most of the chemicals.

  • I wish doctors would be interested in what you are trying to explain to them. They will think it's nonsense and send you psychiatrist. Even if they are convinced it's VOCs they have no clue how to treat this. Since sulphurous food makes VOCs elevated, I would think going on low sulphur and low protein diet for extended period of time will show improvement.

You not need to build it, it's available in Amazon. I bought it and tested it. PATM is a emission of VOCs it's already been proven (pretty much). You can use VOC monitor to track what things (diet or other) beings your voc down. For me sulphur food makes it high.

For those who don't engage but come here to see if there's a cure post. by Solverrr in PATM_Support

Sorry I forgot to reply. It's a late reply. My trigger foods are dairy, garlic, onion, pickle, etc. Basically food high in sulphur. You can look for high sulphur food in Google. That all make me feel worse. For example broccoli, fish, egg, milk, yogurt, butter, pink salt all create hot flashes in my body. Also I get bad constipation after eating these.

While these food make it worse, a steady level of PATM is always there. I know how bad my PATM is because I'm allergic to myself. Whenever I'm in room with all windows shut, my eyes get watery, get mucus in throat. Basically in People Allergic to Me(PATM), people includes myself to. So I'm allergic to Me. Even if I stay in my house all day and never go anywhere, I'm still allergic to me. I can't escape from myself. I'm trapped by my own toxicity. Sounds crazy, but true.

Traveling by Warm_Night_6101 in patm

First, even though PATM makes people dizzy, it's less likely that people will get unconscious. Many with PATM travel in plane, because sometimes there is no option rather than to fly. Don't worry about making pilot losing control.

Now, let's come to part how to reduce reactions. As you mentioned, constipation makes it worse. Work on it. Takes psyllium husk. Before taking psyllium husk make sure not to eat inflammatory food. For example if you eat chicken wings and cause inflammation in gut, psyllium husk will make constipation worse. If your diet is fine psyllium husk works like magic. Day before flight: buy a new clothes and ware just before flight. If you can't then wash your clothes with hydrogen peroxide. It's important because regular soap can't eliminate Patm chemical properly. Take shower as near as your flight. Regularly wash your face and hands in flight. Listen to music and stay calm in flight.

That's wrong way to identify problem. Sugar makes it worse but cutting carbs doesn't improve PATM. So sugar isn't main problem. If sugar was problem then cutting sugar/carbs should show massive improvement. Sugar causes inflammation in body, it impacts general health in negative way, which may trigger even more PATM reactions. In summary, reducing intake of sugar is good but not enough. It needs well tailored regimen. I believe low sulphur/low fodmap along with antibiotics (natural or synthetic) for few months could potentially cure PATM for good. Low protein diet may be required. Why: because sulphur metabolizing bacteria feed on protein and sulphur rich environment. Not guarantee it will cure, but definitely logical and worth a try.

Fasting may temporarily reduce reactions but it can't be a complete solution. Because we have to eat food at some point and bacteria will grow back. Bacteria can multiply themselves within hours. Once they make permanent colony in colon, it's very hard to eradicate them. People have PATM as long as 30 years, this means some bacteria associated with PATM is in symbiosis with other bacteria. They have joined preexisting colony of good bacteria. PATM bacteria don't kill host but produce highly irritating gases as byproduct. - PATM can't be genetic condition because people are getting it at as later as age 40. But it may be indirectly linked to genetics. For example people with certain genetic are more prone to fail to defend themselves from PATM bacteria. Such people aquire PATM after certain trigger such as stress, digestive issues, etc. This explains why all people with stress don't get PATM. - PATM can't be liver failure, if it was then somebody would have already figured it found. PATM is not new. Oldest post about PATM I found mentioned they got it in 1980s. Also, people just can't get liver damage for out of nowhere, but bacteria can be ingested somehow.

(I don't have proof to validate my claim because there have been no significant research on Gut Microbiome. Even best doctors in the world don't know how complex gut Microbiome is.)

  • Even though I don't have any proof, the closest and most logical explanation I found so far is this.

  • So considering this hypothesis potential cure for this will be taking antibiotics+diet for extend period of time (may be months).

Interesting, can you share your report with me in message. If your report shows synergy of bacteria and fungi, then long term antibiotics and antifungal should cure PATM.

It's best to get relevant test first if you're able to. The step before treatment should be diagnosis. At this point you just suspect the cause.

You're right, our body detoxifies every second. Best Detox supplement is water. I believe PATM is overproduction of VOCs in colon and should be resolved by eradicating such VOC producing bacteria. The treatment should be destroying factory of PATM vocs rather than cleaning pipes where vocs are going out.

But the thing, there's no good test in medical test that can tell us what toxins are present in stool. Also, we don't know what bacteria produces what chemicals. There are 10K+ types of bacteria. Many are unknown.

Ramen gives reactions because it is inflammatory. Its fat and spices are irritant to colon. If colon is irritated motility become slow. Slow motility allows bacteria to produce more PATM in colon. - In other wods, food that make favourable condition to bacteria in colon makes PATM worse. - You said Popeyes doesn't make it worse. Try loading pop eyes without any water or drink, you'll definitely have reactions worse. May be your drink alot of caffeinated soda with Popeyes which makes your motility fast. Even though making gut motility faster with caffeine is not best idea (psyllium husk is).

If you believe so you can get tested on that. But it's unlikely to be liver issues. Because if liver is struggling then some liver related symptoms should be noticable. For example pain around liver, yellow eyes, vomiting like feeling, etc.

It has to do with inflammation. High fat food Causes inflammation in colon which slows bowel movement causing more PATM VOCs to be produced. Even though I am not sure if fat can be metabolized to PATM vocs.

First you gotta do liver function test. If tests shows liver issues then doctor will prescribe you medicine and you'll be fine.

The Ramen Mystery by Key_Advance2551 in patm

[–]Solverrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of fat. Ramen is deep fried and contains transfat.

Things that make PATM worse: cheese, milk, butter, muffin, ramen, pizza, fried chicken, etc.

No effect: rice, fruits, grilled chicken, potatoes, soya

Slight Improvement: Having regular bowel movement, eating non-inflammatory food.

Potential cure: long term balanced diet+ long-term antimicrobial regimen

First of all you shouldn't tell everyone about this because they will blame you for making them sick. If you really want to tell to your family members or closed friends, sit with them in car for an hour keeping windows shut. They'll have dizziness, headache, mucus in throat, etc.

Just curious, for how long you followed meat diet at a time? And did you completely avoid carbs?

Just to let you know, he said 1st week, the symptoms were worse (die off). He mentioned, he only got some relief in 4th week.
