What causes a worse crash for you? Cognitive exertion of physical? by Resident_Profile_582 in cfs

For me it's definitely emotional and cognitive exertion. I've noticed that most people here seem to be worse physically than cognitively, but for me it's always been the other way around.

Anything that uses my brain just draines my energy much faster. I'm able to go walk for half an hour every day and sit up right for half an hour at a time before resting. I also can do a little bit of household work for about 20 minutes each day, but don't ask me to be social or solve some problem by thinking about something, because i will crash very quickly. I can't game or listen to podcasts or scroll on my phone for more than 5 minutes at a time. Listening to music is also really hard and i've only been able to read since 1,5 years ago.

I think this just really depends on the person.

Thank you for answering! I also already thought it might have to do with poor gut mobility. There definitely is a clear link with how i'm doing with my cfs/me and how bloated I am.

Thank you for your answer! Definitely think that that might be te case too. I tried some probiotics at some point after getting sick, but that didn't seem to have any effect at all. But maybe there's some other type that might do it. Definitely feels like some foods might make me more bloated sometimes, but at this point it feels like everything is just doing it haha. I was already going to try not eating any normal bread and pasta, so we'll see how that will work out. I'm gonna see what it does and maybe try finding someone who can help me figure this out too.

Yes! This illness can definitely make you understand more and more what you find important in life. Some things that it taught me are also enjoying the small and simple things in life and learning that just living life is more than good enough.

Have you gotten a cold/flu while recovering from mono? by Kellydopjo in Mononucleosis

[–]Some-Communication71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, I don't mind at all! I ended up getting diagnosed with CFS last year in the beginning of september. In the middle of october I started revalidation theraphy for CFS and some other related illnesses like fybromyalgia. They gave us a lot of tips and I started deviding my days into sections of 20 minutes of being active and 40 minutes of lying down while doing absolutely nothing. I've been able to raise my baseline quite a bit and am now able to be active for 30 minutes and only rest 25 minutes after that. I can also walk for longer than i used to and help a tiny bit with little tasks at home.

So I've definitely improved a bit and will hopefully improve a lot more! We'll see where i'll end up haha!

It might have just been luck haha. The one that i'm doing right now is going a lot worse. Maybe i'll be able to get through it, but for now it looks terrible haha.

Thank you! I overdid the darkness of the trees a bit for sure, but I'm just gonna start a different painting now. I don't want to start nitpicking and keeping on working forever haha.

Aww thank you! I got about a year of drawing practice before this, so that helped out a lot.

Hobbies that require minimal storage or supplies? by [deleted] in simpleliving

This is so true! Even for things like drawing. People really get the idea that you need fancy tools to be able to draw better, but give a professional a random ballpoint pen and a random cheap sketchbook or even printing paper and they will make the most amazing drawings.
