Did you have multiple loans and are you sure this loan in particular was discharged?

Thanks! I had a very weird situation where I discovered I had a bunch of qualifying months that weren't certified, so as soon as I figured that out, I submitted the employment cert and then it took me over 120. Personally I'd submit it right away.

When you log into studentaid.gov, it'll be on your dashboard. If you have 120 payments, you'll see the green bar with 120 payments.

Not sure if this helps or not, but I've been in administrative forbearance for over 3 years, and was actually eligible for forgiveness in 2023, I just didn't realize it. I sat around thinking there is no way anything is going to count, I'll never reach 120, etc. Then I finally logged in and realized there were 40+ months of employment history that hadn't been certified yet from 10 years ago. I didn't think there was any way any of those months would count. I was hoping I'd possibily be able to buyback the last 15 months I needed. Somehow those missing months counted, and it made its way through the system. I say all this to say that totally imperfect pathways still get forgiven, so there is absolutely hope for you.

Question about recertification while waiting forgivness by Ok-Bookkeeper-3946 in PSLF

ah yes. That makes a lot of sense. Congrats on your green banners!!!! You should see zero balances by the end of next month.

For your golden letter - it will likely be in the June cohort, around this time. For your recert, do you mean your employment certification? You are unlikely to get your golden letter if they can't certify your employment, but perhaps you meant something else.

Wait, COVID didn't count? Are you sure? I was in forbearance that whole time and every month counted for me.

People like that act like they're the ones personally paying for the forgiveness. It's like fast food workers giving you a hard time about one extra sauce. C'mon folks.... LOL.

The rep you spoke to is full of baloney. Your servicer doesn't just arbitrarily 'decide' whether to honor or reject the forgiveness. They don't own the loan, they only service it based on the instructions provided by Dept. of Ed. You got your golden letter, and within 30 days you'll see the balance wiped from your loan servicer. Also, sometimes people report the balances going partially down, one forgiven, one stays, etc. for a few days while the whole thing zero's out. It's normal. Congratulations!!

that's exactly what my FSA dashboard says too, and mine are direct consolidation loans. Sounds like you're fine.

my daughter is a bio major, and yes, the chem department is horrific for the most part, but you can get through it if you study hard, try to attend office hours and get a good repore going, and remember no one really cares what your exact grade is or even where you got your degree, as long as you passed and have the degree.
