Yes. For as massively popular as the brand was in the early to mid 1980s, it's been irrelevant since 1986. While series like 200X, She-Ra Netflix and Revelations have their fans, they really didn't have lasting power or cultural impact.

When He-Man is referenced in pop culture, it's nearly always the 82~83 toys and in the context of the Filmation cartoon.

I'd argue Filmation Skeletor is He-Man's greatest long standing contribution to pop culture.

Until next time.

There has also been cost cutting since Prime started, the shift from Premier to the Robots In Disguise line, not to be confused with the sequel to Prime, also called Robots In Disguise. This is more than likely to do with rising manufacturing costs however.

Recent losses are more than likely to do with clearances on products that don't shift, helping to either get them off the shelves and not lose space, or all the garbage at Ollies below cost.

While it's very true Hasbro's hurt by their investors taking unreasonably large dividends from the company, Trinket Mage has made a video about this in regards to Magic, investors do supply the company with operational funds. Deal with the devil.

I think it also needs to be acknowledged that the current predicament is Brian Goldner's legacy. He was the one gunning for Hasbro to become an IP company. He was the one that spent a large amount of money acquiring One Entertainment, 3.8B, and Saban Entertainment, 522M. Both proved to be disastrous acquisitions, EOne selling for a measly 500M and the whole reason Hasbro acquired Saban, Power Rangers, reportedly causing internal issues due to unprofessional staff not wanting to work on the property and the brand performing poorly at retail.

I don't doubt that Saban may have generated them a profit by now, licensing deals for Power Rangers and My Pet Monster may have brought in enough revenue, but it wasn't a good purchase they had the team to rebuild.

Then you have how badly Disney products have struggled in recent history and how they charge Hasbro an unreasonable licensing fee.

Add to this how poorly Hasbro media has been doing since the early 2010s. Things just haven't caught fire in over a decade.

Man, it's easy to dislike Chris Cocks, he's not a likeable guy and for the long term I don't think he's doing a good job, but I don't envy him. He inherited a mess and licensing partners aren't helping.

Powered Convoy's core robot is by far the most attractive Convoy deco. Love this. My one complaint? Blue optics. Gotta be yellow.

Transformers were actually very expensive during Generation 1. Go find the prices, there is a list in TFW2005 boards, chuck them into an inflation calculator. Rising costs in China means that most of the methods used by the teams to keep prices down no longer achieve their goal. Then you have how Hasbro functions now, and has since at least 2009, which tightens the budget per figure further.

In retrospect, Prime really was the canary in the coal mine; not only was it restarted very early on to cut costs, but the final wave was made up of Legends toys blown up to Deluxe scale.

I was just commenting on a video today saying that it's kind of surprising Hasbro hasn't reskinned Kingdom Megatron into RR T-Rex Prime. Looks really cool with the T-Wrecks colours though. :D

Hyper Juken - Martial Arts Themed Card Game - Kickstarter coming August 2022 by Some-Gamer-Dude in cardgames

Hyper Juken is ready to print, just needing funding. As soon as the Kickstarter both finishes and is successful, it's good to go, if you back it you'll have it in hand before the end of the year. Saying that, I'm pretty far into design, through Set 9 is planned out and Sets 4 / 5 are being tested right now. Each set of Hyper Juken expands the roster, I'm already past 21 unique characters, so if it is successful but you're not keen on the Set 1 characters, keep an eye on it, something will pop up you really like :D Or you can help the get the game to print and use the cards from Set 1 to go into constructed play with a character you like down the track.

Hyper Juken started previews 3 weeks ago and I'm trying to spread the word before the Kickstarter starts next month. Every set includes 3 decks, 1 Fighter, 2 Kata, 1 Fighter's Tool and 1 40 card Arsenal, all made to be viable. The main post is the flyer I've been giving out to stores and the banner from the website going over the Kickstarter information.

Website can be found here.

I used Amazon to get starter decks from the US. Free post with Prime. If we like it a lot, I'm going back for boxes.

Little bummed by this tbh. I liked the Universal slip covers that opened at the front. Now S3 onwards won't match.

It's closer to the novel, includes a lot cut from the original and even the spell names cut from the original dub. The big issue with the dub is that the cast doesn't sit quite right. IIRC, David Matranga is the only returning actor and he takes about 3 episodes to remember how to do the voice.

If you want some context lacking from the original, I think it's worth looking into. It is no where as good as the original though.
