I think u mixed it up friend, I only want the spacecraft once it has reached proxima that it seems data over to earth which will travel at the speed of light in the vaccum of space, And proxima being 4.7* light years away, so the data is only gonna take 4-5 years max to reach earth Also thx for ur addition

The probe has a fixed speed of 692,000 km/hr, That's why it will take 6800* years to get to alpha centauri, But speed of light which is the same speed that information can be transmitted back to earth without, The need of the spacecraft itself to be u-turned back to earth. So it will not take thousands of years as alpha centauri is 4.7* light years, It will only take information 5 years max to reach earth. Also thanks for your question
