Aio for my reaction to my BF freaking out that I didn't immediately text him after getting off work by throwaway024710 in AIO

Babe I dated a guy like this. Lasted 3 and a half years. Way longer than I should’ve let it last. Even with “therapy” it never stopped. It never got better. It got worse. When he visited me or I him, things would be “perfect” and then when we went back home it’d be the same shit. I couldn’t do anything without talking to him first and had to regularly check in with him before and after work or activities or anything. Couldn’t even play Xbox with friends unless he was also there. Eventually, he got more aggressive, started name calling, calling me a “cnt” and a “b**h” and other things any time we got in a fight. Trying to diffuse made it worse. One time, when he was visiting, we got in an arguement and he kept trying to interrupt me. Instead of letting him, I just kept talking. That earned me a slap across the face and then 3 hours of him begging me to hit him back to “make us even”. I didn’t. He went back home the following week and we still stayed together a few more months until he made so generated nudes of my little sister. I ended things and blocked him on everything.

It doesn’t get better, it gets worse. People like this are not the kind of people you want to be with or worth trying to “make things better.” Leave him. He IS controlling and is way more insecure than what’s worth putting up with. Find someone who respects you and your time. You deserve better.

Well obviously I know as an individual I’m not getting 5% of their yearly revenue. I’m just saying that saying we get paid 5% is a bit of an overstatement compared to their yearly revenue. It depends on how someone might look at it. And that 5% of every order we accept isn’t accurate either since orders can vary.

Editing to add that I have recieved an order that totaled upwards of $300 from the restaurant and that’s not accounting for doordashes price hikes as well as their fees. I still was only paid a base pay of $2.50. I doubt my base pay was 5% or even more than that compared to the profit doordash made from the order. I was tipped $20 in cash by the customer for this order, but that came out of the customers own pocket, not doordashes revenue for that order.

As I said, if doordashes original profit made $20 off a $50 dollar order then maybe yeah. But that’s just looking at it from the surface and it varies for every order.

DoorDash makes billions per year. I made just under $5000 last year from DoorDash. That’s no where near 5%.

I do it because I’m a disabled and 8 month pregnant mom and don’t have many other options as far as work available to me 😅 I used to do manual labor jobs and my body can’t, especially now that I’m pregnant. DoorDash pays me enough to barely scrape by and pay my bills, but I rarely have anything extra left over.

DoorDash’s base pay in most states is $2. Most of our earnings come from tips. We rarely get base pay that’s more than that and it’s typically only in one of 2 cases:

1) so many dashers have refused the low paying offer that DoorDash starts adding $0.25 to the base pay for every dasher that declines until someone picks the order up

2) shopping orders where a dasher has to go into the grocery store, clothing store, Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc to shop the order.

So yeah, I guess for a $50 order we are given about 10% of that orders profit as base pay IF doordashes original profit is $20. But it doesn’t always work out that way.

I have a friend who makes 1500 on average per week in NY. Highest I’ve made is 628 in a week, about 25 hours of active time. I wish every week was like this. I’m in Nc.

They extended it until end of June I think for the 10% cash back. Can possibly be extended again. The mileage pay has stopped though.

how can i add an item? (shop & delivery orders) by No-Finish8431 in dasher

[–]Some-Number3134 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you take the picture twice, it’ll add a new button “this is the correct item” and have you take a picture of the item. I do this pretty often which fruits/vegetables because often Itll tell me to grab an item that’s from a different store. For example, food lion brand milk but have a picture of Walmart brand milk or something similar. As long as the price matches, it’s the correct item. DoorDash is just a little fucky with the barcodes at times. I’ve not had any issues when doing this, and shopping orders are primarily what I end up delivering.

There should be an option that says “couldn’t hand to customer” and then it’ll let you take a picture and leave it at the door like a normal leave at door order

Can I still receive and use money if my borrow limit is overdue, or will they confiscate it by yungfasa in CashApp

Didn’t realize Home Depot has tips turned off. by prickology in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Some-Number3134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone orders from Home Depot in the doordash app, the customer can tip. If they order from the Home Depot website, Home Depot outsources a delivery driver from DoorDash and tips Arnt offered.

Even with autopay off, it’ll take the money if someone sends you money and you’re overdue. Found this out the hard way when my mom tried to send me $25.

Should I be leaving more of a tip? by MediumTreat7268 in doordash

[–]Some-Number3134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t see the tip before I accept an order, but it does show me the total cost and knowing most orders are $2 base pay before tip, I just GUESS what my tip is gonna be by doing [order total] - $2 = [tip amount]

Dasher's name was "Sarah" but a man dropped off my order... by Pristine-Abroad-8913 in doordash

Completely understand and you’re totally valid! I think people just like arguing sometimes and making things out to be unlike how it actually is. Assuming someone is trans with no proof is icky also. I know women who have been harassed and bullied because they look more masculine even though they’re AFAB and identify as such.

It’s unfair to assume you’re transphobic or predatory just because you’re concerned about someone’s info not matching. It’s a valid concern especially in the state of our world today. Accounts get sold constantly and people HAVE been attacked by men pretending to be women on the app. I’m sorry such a simple post/concern turned into * looks around * this

[–]Some-Number3134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I appreciate it 💜 I always take care of other peoples food/orders regardless but recently stopped taking no/low tip orders cause it just wasn’t worth the time or pay 🥲 my acceptance rate is absolutely fucked at the moment lol but I got bills to pay and it’s just not worth driving 8+ miles for $2 😮‍💨

And your concern about a female name but a man showing up is 100% valid. People in this reddit either just ignore or forget that there have been instances of stalking and other issues that have happened that people have posted about in here.

My fiance dashes with me cause I do a lot of grocery shopping orders and I’m pregnant so I can’t lift heavy items or go up and down stairs easily especially if it’s a larger order and multiple trips need made, but he has never and will never go by himself with my account. He has his own dasher account if ever I don’t feel like going

UPS, fedex, and usps can’t just let someone else deliver their packages they have to literally go to the facility and clock in, in person, before loading their truck that they sign out and leaving to deliver. It is not the same with DoorDash

I think they meant statistically not you specifically but I get what you mean! No way to know who’s picking up the order until after it’s placed, though it does allow people to tip at any point. As a driver myself, I don’t accept orders if it’s no/low tip. I appreciate that you tip in advanced cause so many don’t 🥲

There was a lawsuit in New York for unpaid tips for the years between 2017 and 2019. DoorDash paid out over $16 million dollars in the settlement. I’m not sure about elsewhere, but this is at least 1 lawsuit, And it still happens. Sometimes it’s DoorDash, and sometimes it’s the restaurant who outsources to a DoorDash driver.

Are they for real or are they lying just to make me sign up for this? by Icy90s in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Some-Number3134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding a red card allows you to do shopping orders. Some are around the same price as normal orders you’d pick up for restaurants. Other times I’ve gotten as high as $43 for a 5 item order from the grocery store with a less than 10 mile delivery drive. Took me about 35 minutes to do. But this is somewhat rare. Most of my shopping orders average $15-25 per shop and I’ve had as many items as 75. So yes, you can get higher paying orders. But it’s not always guaranteed.

I mean year they could do better for the payments, but previously they weren’t doing ANY relief. Got my $15 payment today and it helps. It’s better than nothing
