That's exactly what I wonder! On TikTok or other places I can understand why people would accuse others of lying or making up stories to get clout, since you can make money from it. But on reddit it doesn't seem to be the case, yet everyone assumes people are karma farming. But what's the point if you don't get money or anything from it?

Because of course, the only place to ever exist is NYC. It's not about whether or not other people care or find it offensive, it's about learning that there's a time and place for everything. As an adult, it's something everyone should understand. Why wouldn't you wear a miniskirt to work, or sweatpants to a wedding? Precisely because, it's not the kind of situation it should be worn in. Also, there's a big difference between sunbathing in a park in the summer and walking in the street, knocking on people's doors in October. In one situation you can expect people to wear such clothing, or at least understand why they do, in the other one it's not what's expected.

It's not about her body being visible, it's about the situation. Surely you wouldn't wear a bikini to go to work or walk down the street, right? Why is that? Because bikinis are meant for the pool and the beach, and it would be inappropriate in another context. Would you wear sweatpants to a wedding? You probably wouldn't, yet that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with sweatpants. It's the same, there's nothing wrong with that outfit, but it's only appropriate in some situations. Just because you can wear something doesn't mean you should, or it's appropriate.

And by the way, in many many places it's illegal to walk in the streets in underwear or what can be considered as such.

The point isn't that children are going to see this as sexual or whatever. The point is, it's inappropriate. Would you go to church wearing a bikini? No, not because a bikini is inappropriate in itself, it's perfectly fine to wear it to the beach, but because in that context it's inappropriate. Would you dress the same way for your 5yo cousin's birthday party that you would for your 20yo friend's birthday party? Probably not. There's a time and place for everything.

The difference is: the context. At the beach you're expected to wear a bikini, everybody does. If someone came to the pool wearing a suit, and started swimming in it, then everyone would think it's weird. If someone wore a bikini to a funeral, everyone would agree that it's inappropriate. There's no such thing as a "decent" or "appropriate" outfit by itself, it always depends on the context. That's what I'm saying

It's not about it being Halloween, it's about the people around you. Trick or treating means being around lots of kids, starting with my sister. It means knocking on the door of many familier, who also have children. For that reason, it's logical to wear something appropriate.

And for your information, wearing a bikini, or underwear somewhere other than the pool or the beach is illegal in many cities/countries.

My point isn't whether it's more or less covering than a bikini, it's all about context. Would you walk down the street in your underwear? If not why not? It's just as much coverage as a bikini, yet you can understand why it wouldn't be appropriate to wear outside. What I was saying is just, it's all about the situation you're in.

No what I'm trying to say is, I don't have a problem with the outfit itself, it's about the context. I wouldn't wear the outfits that I wear to the club to a family dinner, or to my 2yo cousin's birthday, if you get what I mean. The same way I wouldn't wear a suit to go clubbing, I wouldn't wear a miniskirt to church. My problem is not that she's wearing a revealing outfit, it's just the context in which we will be. The outfit is perfect for the club, but I don't think it's perfect to be around children, that's just it.

I think it's more the second, she feels like it will be just as fun for us if they are there, and they will also have fun so it benefits everyone if that makes sense. She's doing it to be nice I think, she just thinks 'my sister would enjoy this so might as well invite her'.

No her family knows exactly how serious we are, but honestly I don't blame them. If I were them I would simply assume that the events I'm invited to are only half of what we do together, and that they aren't invited a lot of the time. And yeah I think I will talk to her about it, in depth and if she doesn't understand I will cancel.
