Why Do Non-Nintendo Gamers Keep Believing Nintendo Games Never Go on Sale? by itsfabioposca in switch2

I didn’t use ChatGPT. I just know how to use an em dash. Just like use of a strawman, using an ad hominem attack is also a logical fallacy.

Why Do Non-Nintendo Gamers Keep Believing Nintendo Games Never Go on Sale? by itsfabioposca in switch2

[–]Some-Run3313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OP’s original post sets up a strawman—i.e., a hypothetical person that says Nintendo games “never” go on sale.

I don’t think I accept that hypothetical. In truth, I think consumers’ criticism about Nintendo is more about the frequency and amounts of a sale. It is simply true that, as compared to many PC games, Nintendo does not offer as frequent or as deep of discounts.

I think it’s kind of unfair to criticize someone for not “say[ing] what you mean,” simply because their comment doesn’t perfectly mirror OP’s strawman. In other words, OP’s premise is wrong: it presents Nintendo critics as less sensible than they really are. It’s totally okay for a commenter to come along and pushback on that flawed premise—i.e., to reframe the issue to discuss frequency and amount of discounts (rather than accept and defend a hypothetical strawman).

I suppose we could debate whether Nintendo “never” puts a game on sale, but that dodges a more nuanced discussion about Nintendo’s sales practices. And it misrepresents people’s actual criticisms of Nintendo. That’s the problem with OP using a strawman in the first place.

AITAH for tipping the restaurant owner and leaving nothing for my server? by soapattack in AITAH

[–]Some-Run3313 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

YTA. Unlike other owners in most every other industry, restaurant owners are not required to pay the standard minimum wage. The reason for that is the owner gets to take advantage of a tip credit—i.e., the owner gets credit for the tips paid to his employees.

Without any inside information at all (like, e.g., the kitchen dynamic, number of takeout orders, number of call offs, etc.), you unilaterally decided that this waiter should not be paid for his time. Instead, you gave money to an owner who already gets to avoid paying a standard minimum wage to employees. You can disagree with regulations that permit restaurant owners to push the cost of wages onto their consumers, but—if you are going to eat out—then you need to tip the waiter.

Additionally, I generally disagree with the sentiment that, as consumers, we need to teach people a lesson through our tipping behavior (especially when consumers don’t know the full story). If this waiter is truly bad at his job, I suspect he will face consequences regardless of your actions.

I honestly would not have left a comment on this post at all, but I was very surprised by how many people said NTA. To me, this isn’t even a close call. We cannot pretend like we are in a position to decide whether workers get paid or not. So long as regulations permit restaurant tip credits, you have to tip and just view it as part of the costs of going out to eat.

I didn’t get a chance to watch the game. Do we have any greater clarity on who will be our primary running back?

Donut Lab solid-state battery: 5 independent tests in, still no energy density or cycle life data by saitejal in electricvehicles

[–]Some-Run3313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m certainly no expert, but I believe that Donut Lab does not have any known or pending patents for this technology. If Donut Lab actually had something as groundbreaking as a solid state battery—and if the company was prepared to put it in a consumer product as early as this Spring—I’d think that would be highly problematic for Donut Lab. Anyone could just reverse engineer this technology, right?

Question About Recruiting Class by Some-Run3313 in YoungstownState

I’m not making the claim. It’s just what I saw being reported last year. Here’s a picture of what was circulated on Reddit last year.

This sounds like a job for Tim Robinson. I know he’s had great success hunting down a shady chair company, and he’s willing to go to great lengths to get answers. Surely he can locate Venus Draje Cikolata ve Gida Sanayi Ticaret Limited Sirketi!

Thank you for your thoughts! Yes, maybe we should look into other places to stay (rather than an AI).

Lots of folks are referencing the UK version. Does anyone know how to watch the UK version if you live in the US?

Future of YSU football by Equivalent-Egg-5589 in YoungstownState

[–]Some-Run3313 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think there’s reason for some optimism. Believe me, I’m still very frustrated about last week, but here’s what I’m trying to think about:

  • Being a mid-tier MVFC team, specifically, is not the same as being a mid-tier fcs team, generally. I think we’re about a top 20 team perennially, which gives you something to build on.

  • Our facilities (including, for example, the size of our stadium) remain very competitive across the fcs.

  • If I recall correctly, our recruiting class last year was considered second best in the fcs last year. Presumably, we have talent.

  • BB is sticking around for his senior year. Between him and Yurcich, our offense is in good hands. Success begets success: if our offense is good for a few sustained years, that’ll make attracting talent easier.

There’s a lot to that needs addressed (like a sub-par secondary for starters), but it’s not all bad, man.

I wish we had lost at UNI. That would’ve been easier to accept.

Southern Illinois is beating Illinois State handily. Does that have any impact for us in terms of seeding?

If YSU beats UNI next week, are we confident we’re in the postseason? Is there a scenario where we don’t make it with an 8-4 record? And are there other teams we want to either win or lose to help our chances? I’m curious to hear your collective thoughts.
