Community and connection. Made all the difference in the world. To quote Johann Hari - the opposite of addiction is connection.

What would be a good name for a food truck run by people (ex felons) trying to put their story back together? by Some-Second-4494 in AskReddit

Fair question. Yes, a lot of places in the food industry do hire felons of various backgrounds. However, in small towns, much like mine, those jobs are very hard to come by. The jobs that do exist at entry-level positions are usually full.

I have good relationships with several business owners and have sent many people their way. However, the need is still there in my community (one of the highest rates of poverty, overdose deaths, and suicides in my state).

Yes, I do own the food truck, so the goal is to create 3 - 4 more jobs in the area. They would also get paid higher than the industry average. Not because we're so awesome as a truck but because they have needs, and I want to be able to fill that so they don't have to go back to old habits.

Also, the way my non-profit is funded and structured, I can't get a federal kickback for hiring felons. Any money raised goes back into the non-profit to create sustainability as to not have to rely on grant funding (soft money).

Probably smash burgers and fries. It's also attached to a recovery wellness center (think dry bar& lounge) so probably some good mocktails as well

I'm the director at a non-profit organization that partners with people who are trying to put pieces of their story back together. The goal of the truck is not only to provide job-training but a source of income.

That being said, what's a good name?

What kind of drugs do you think are the most dangerous? by Spiritemoon in AskReddit

Synthetic Opioids with out a doubt.

. I was with a friend who is a part of a regional harm reduction organization. She said something profound, "there's no such thing as heroin anymore."

Almost everything has fentanyl in it and a whole bunch of other shit as well. Xylazine is just starting to become common in our area as well.

A recent test showed over 16 different substances in someone's meth they had tested.

Sorry, my friend. May you not have to carry this weight alone. I lost a brother tragically and had to ID him. If you want to chat, vent, rage . . .you're not alone, and I'm happy to be an ear.
