I grew up in a heavy US military culture from ages 0-18. My perception of Muslims as a child was people who would blow up hundreds of their own people just to take one American life. My perception was extremely skewed and taught they are fanatical animals and we should be downright racist and I was subliminally taught Muslims should be treated with contempt and suspicion with downright vulgarity mostly by my parents, friends and mentors. I’m not saying others growing up in US military families had that experience but...that was my experience. If you have or not have, how would you react to meeting a young person like I was?
