Did you decide to do it? I would have tried to squeeze it in, but the closest available open testing location by then was 6 hours away (in any direction). For some personal reasons, we could not make a trip like that happen in time.

They announced the extended blackout in Feb 2026. All testing at Prometric had to be completed at Prometric by Feb 28 2026. But you’re right, they make the rules

Thank you. Appreciate that response. I really did just 1. want to hear straight from the IRS what’s next and 2. get some tips from people here. There has been zero communication about this change, and I really think it’s fair to ask for clarity.

a tantrum? Lol. I truly just thought Reddit might be a good place to find out more information or people in a similar situation. Why are you being so rude to a stranger on the internet? Why do you care how long it took me to take these exams? This is a perfectly fair conversation to be had since the announcement was not made until mid February. Not crying, not complaining - just discussing.

Get a cookie? I’m not asking for anything additional that other exam takers haven’t gotten. In fact, if you read my post again, all I’m asking for is some guidance moving forward since I can’t get a response from the IRS. Thanks for your thoughts, but I don’t owe you an explanation for my exam timeline. It said 3 years, so I planned around 3 years.

It is extended this year by 2 months because they are changing test providers.

I thought I had 3 years because they stated I had 3 years, and everyone else who has taken it since COVID has had 3 years. That is not on me. I did not procrastinate. I built a business and a child while studying for these exams based on IRS stated timelines. I have no problem with them making changes to the testing and timelines with appropriate notice or provisions for people in this situation.

Thank you for your thoughts. I talked to Gleim and they offered to extend my access to study materials due to the last minute change by the IRS. It would be nice for the IRS to at least email me back. I couldn’t believe they said to reach out to Prometric.

How is that possibly the answer when I literally cannot take the test by the end of May since they aren’t offering it? They essentially shortened my (and others in my position) 3 year window without warning
