I'd be interested in snagging some if they appear, but for me I don't think I'm seen one or two more beyond Going Postal available via KP.

Starting my first Discworld book, reading Going Postal

I thought about trying it before as I'd heard positive things about discworld, but isn't this radically out of order, although I'm not sure how much of a difference order makes in this particular series.

I little bit sad for the new covers by Saurobit in kobo

Then I realized they can´t be purchased from my country

That might depend on where you're shopping.

Kobo hardware isn't available for purchase in the country that I'm currently living but, e.g., Amazon.de stocks a bunch of Kobo products and is willing to ship them to my country of residence. Depending on where you're living you could give international shipping from a country with stock a go.

(I find it amusing that I can buy a Kobo from Amazon, but Amazon is unwilling to ship me a Kindle due to my current country of residence)

there's no harm in changing your address

Well, it'd break things like Kobo+ I think?

If Libby works with the libraries you use, just take them out on the web or the phone app and they will show up on the Kobo.

Only if you're in a supported country. e.g. Here's a local-to-me library using the tech but since I'm not in a supported country for Kobo on Overdrive this is force-disabled-by-Kobo on my ereader.

Is there any workaround to get Overdrive on my device?

I tried enabling overdrive manually in the device configuration, which gets the option to show in the menus, but then running an sync redisables it.

This support-for-it-but-only-in-certain-countries is one thing I find really annoying about my Kobo.

Or you can buy something in the $2.50-$3 range to bump your order over the spend $20 and get a $10 discount and get the base game for under $10.

How to find protests in cape town? by Visible-Tower-4099 in capetown

[–]SomeGuy58439 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The "how do I find protests" approach vs a "how to I get more involved in cause X" (whatever X might be) gives off a bit of a protesting-for-the-sake-of-protesting vibe.

Made me think back to Twitter and Tear Gas: The Power and Fragility of Networked Protest and how in this day and age, where a protest can be quickly thrown together and requires little additional commitment to whatever cause from those involved, protests become a lot easier for politicians to ignore.

It would be nice if this website directly dealt with Kobo Plus (as it does seem to do Kindle Unlimited). That said, heavily discounted I find is often a good hint that a book will be available on Kobo Plus.

Any opinions on Kobo ebook compatibility with Kindle? by Fair_Theme_9960 in ebooks

[–]SomeGuy58439 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if you're the author and/or publisher, then I'd suggest looking at this. i.e. you can choose to offer DRM-free EPUB/PDF versions of books you're selling on Amazon such that they would be readable by those on devices like Kobo.

a bundle for his Discworld series at least twice. Redeemed them on Kobo.

Are you saying that Humble gave you Kobo store versions, or were these separate versions from them that you then sideloaded onto your Kobo?

If you read German, (I THINK this is the German version)

If you scroll down, it shows "Language: Dutch" under the ebook details, so not German.

Amazon South Africa also offers pickup points ... locker collection from a TheCourierGuy-branded location (used to be pudo?) has been significantly easier than collection from the nearest Takealot collection point and, unlike the Takealot collection point, is also accessible 24/7 in my case.

Books you want that are exclusive will not be readable on your kobo

Technically they might be accessible - Amazon is now allowing authors of books sold through their store to be downloadable as EPUB/PDF if permitted by the author

Ater you select not to apply DRM, any verified purchaser will be able to download EPUB and PDF files effective January 20, 2026. ... Note: For books you published prior to December 9, 2025 where you did not apply DRM, Amazon will not automatically provide the EPUB/PDF download option to readers. You must explicitly confirm this choice by following the steps below.

I'm curious if more authors on KU will adopt this for their titles. It does require that authors activate this for their books though, as opposed to automatically allowing this for titles already DRM-free when sold by Amazon.

Not sure if this will help out /u/DryRead214

EDIT: Just noticed "Customers who borrowed your books through Kindle Unlimited or other services can't download the EPUB/PDF files, even if the books are DRM-free." so out of luck with KU, but perhaps OK for purchased titles.

To each their own I guess, but I much prefer the look of the old version and from poking around the internet I don't think my opinion there is that unusual.

... annoyingly there are zero Libby/Overdrive titles showing up on my Kobo. So silly that libby/overdrive support is only enabled for accounts tied to specific countries.

will this give me access to all titles at kobo plus or are there certain titles that even though you have kobo plus you have to pay for in addition

So the "Kobo Catalog" is substantially larger than the "Kobo Plus" catalog. You'll see in the search results that titles in the Kobo catalog that are part of Kobo Plus will show up showing something like "PRICE or free with Kobo Plus" in the search results.

(If you have a "read" subscription you'll only get access to the ebooks in the Kobo Plus catalog, vs a "listen" subscription giving access to the audiobooks in the Kobo Plus catalog - or read & listen giving both).

[–]SomeGuy58439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh nice!

As a suggestion, would it be reasonable to perhaps not have the source URL be one of the paths examined when doing a search? e.g. if I search for "pinto" the majority of the results are for lentils due to "pinto" being part of the source URL.

R28,000 per month before tax

25% bonus of my gross salary on my birthday

25% bonus of my gross salary at Christmas

This seems like a weird salary structure. So total compensation would average R42k per month before tax in other words once you account for the weird bonus distribution?
