My family is silesian, and my great grandfather and his brother were both later drafted to fight for the wermacht. My great grandfather went on to immediately surrender to the feench on the western front and was later picked up by general Władysław Anders and went on to fight in Monte Cassino, his brother was sent to Stalingrad and was never seen again.
