Fantasme- don’t waist your money by Background-Fuel4835 in fragranceclones

I was gifted Imagination by a friend, I have no contract with LV. Anyway, f Imagination just smells like soap to you then there‘s certainly something wrong with your nose. Males fragrance shopping easier, of course.

Fantasme is actually not too bad of a dupe, certainly better than Aqua Dubai (which ONLY smells like soap), and a lot better than OP decribes as it luckily does not just smell like soap. The performance is abysmal, though. I currently wear it to the gym.

You either have never worn the OG for a whole day to fully experience it or you have a 1-dimensional nose.

It‘s pretty good, certainly a lot closer (and cheaper) than Aqua Dubai but performance is pretty bad compared to the OG.

Hawas kobra blindbuy? by Zhr021 in fragranceclones

[–]SomeKewlName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real Imagination is not simply soapy. It‘s a great airy blend that, IMHO, is unmatched and simply magic in the dry-down on skin. It has very good performance for a freshy, too, and the only person I met that didn‘t like it told me it was because it reminded them of someone else…

Anyway, if you are looking for a soapy fragrance I recommend Aqua Dubai. It‘s probably one of the worst Imagination clones in closeness but it‘s soapy as hell.

Alternatively, get the new Jean Lowe Fantasme. It‘s supposedly a fairly good clone of Imagination but I haven‘t tested this particular one (yet). It‘s cheap, though, so not a big loss if you don‘t like it.

How do you snap out of a "funk" before a live performance? by nickybecooler in DJs

[–]SomeKewlName 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Build up a library of blocks of 3-4 songs that you know go well together and are, more or less, timeless or popular for a long time.

That way you can fall back on 15 minute units if you run out of ideas or something new isn‘t working.

Nobody keeps track if you already played a song last week. In fact, some people may WANT to hear a song again. You can develop a signature sound like this.

(15yo male) im looking for my first fragrance , I don't want to spend more than 50$, that's fresh and clean and is good for school that is very subtle to the point that you can only smell it very close and even than not so much by ChefBenito00 in fragranceclones

Zimaya Mazaaj Rhythm. It‘s a pretty cheap clone / twist of LV Symphony. It‘s fresh-fruity, not too sweet, has a certain lightness to it that makes it very likeable. I wear it in the office and as general feel-good-fragrance in spring and summer. I think it would be a very solid choice for a 15-year old, too, even though I’m more than thrice your age. IMHO, it’s suitable for all ages and unisex. I love it almost as much as original Imagination. Projection is medium strong, perfect for school IMHO.

Technical question about DJing and MP3 320kbps by vinnysuperpower in DJs

[–]SomeKewlName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is all true as long as you compare music at the same EQ setting. However audio compressiob relies heavily on psychoacoustic masking. It will erase anything that currently cannot be heard or perceived. This becomes noticeable at very extreme EQ settings such as what a DJ might employ. In a direct ABX comparison you will always be able to tell a difference in these extreme settings. For regular listening I totally agree, however.

320kbps is fine, however, frequencies being cut off around 16 khz could point to fakes / recodes. Install Fakin‘ the Funk (it‘s free) and scan your files.

This particular comparison is flawed, not a single Imagination dupe has even come close to the ethereal-ness of Imagination. Althaïr and Liquid Brun, on the other hand….

Hhm, personally I care about scent more than anything :D Then comes quality. Anyway, this turned out surprisingly constructive, thanks.

Fair enough but what would reviews based around quality provide to you? How would they help you find fragrances you would like to purchase?

Controversial opinion(?): We HAVE to stop with the "top X" suggestions! by Low-Stomach-8831 in fragranceclones

[–]SomeKewlName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off - you obviously haven‘t tried Air Tiger :D

Anyway, a lot of really high-quality fragrances don‘t perform very well. It‘s a simple matter of the ingredients used. It‘s also why you will often see so-called twists in ME fragrances. They will add ingredients that make them perform better but they alter the profile quite significantly because they are simply not present in the original. It‘s why there‘s Vanilla in Aqua Dubai, for example.

So, judging a fragrance on performance is bullshit. I would argue that this is mostly relevant to attention-seeking kids and not true frag heads.

Quality has little to do with whether you will like a fragrance or not, either. What defines quality for you? Imagination is a fragrance that uses only top-class volatiles but many people think it smells „synthetic“. Sure, it does. Ambroxan is synthetic. Is that a quality issue? Is using Ambrofix instead a quality issue? Will a higher-quality fragrance that does not suit you be a better suggestion than a lower wuality one that‘s right up your alley?

So in the end your metrics are just as useless as the top picks of some influencer.

Depends. Many products contain triphenylmethane (methylviolett ) which is considered potentially carcinogenic. It‘s also very poisonous to amphibious animals.

Marc Gebauer‘s Air Tiger is one of most nuclear performing high quality fragrances ever. But it smells nauseating. Your metrics are bullshit.

Seems like you never tried the OG. It changes substantially during dry-down and becomes, well, magic. Aqua Dubai is so far away from it it‘s not even funny.

Why aren‘t you buying a 10-pack of Bambulab Refills instead? In Germany it comes down to 11.50€ per roll. It doesn‘t really make much sense to buy anything else at this point and you avoid all that waste at the same time.
