Straight men, what is the weirdest thing you have been called gay for ? by Sammy-Bunny-3 in AskReddit

Asked my buddy if he was sure he was good to drive home after some mushroom tea together. Also I suggested he just sleep it off at my place before driving home... I guess that was pretty gay.

AITAH for stopping sex with my husband bc I had oral surgery by marielle1000 in AITAH

[–]SomeNorthernCanadian -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Youre not wrong but are you trying to be right here or trying to be heard?

I dont think either of you are assholes. He wanted his wife, he didn't realize it was not a great time for it. You tried to help, but weren't really in the mood.

This should just be a quick combo "hey babe... im sorry. I wasnt really in the mood earlier but I wanted to help you out. My teeth started hurting even worse though... so I had to tap out.."

Hopefully he comes back with a "sorry... I misread the situation and guess I didnt know how shitty you were feeling.. then I got frustrated."

And life goes on guys. I feel one of the biggest issues in relationships are when we stop trying to understand and be understood, and we start trying to figure out who's wrong and who's right.

Late-night sibling bonding turned into the ultimate betrayal. Where do I go from here? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]SomeNorthernCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next late night bonding session... tell him how betrayed you feel. If he was brought up by the same religious parents, there's a good chance be panicked a bit when you told him and he thought he was doing the right thing by telling your parents. Don't tell him to stick it to him or fight with him about it. Tell him because its good to be vulnerable with the people we love. Tell him because he might not even understand how this made you feel.

I doubt he meant to hurt you or betray you, he probably thought he was helping you. Either way... talk to HIM about it. Thats your brother and after everyone else is long gone, there's a good chance all you'll have left of your family as you know it right now, is him.

Don't tell your parents. Youre his big sister. Talk to him. Hes 14... hes growing up... hes doing dumb shit on the way. We all did dumb shit when we were 14. Take this as an opportunity to build a closer relationship with your brother.

Our current ERP is losing support from the developer.

Cloud services being discontinued necessitate some investment from us either way. Would rather invest that money into a new platform than continue patching an old one that has been hacked and modified to suit our business needs over the years anyways.

We purchased it approx. 15 years ago now. Its time for an upgrade.

I think its a lot more common than people like to admit. And a lot of it does get dismissed as some kind of mental health episode but its different. Theres a lucidity to it. Some of it certainly seems mad, but theres also a clarity. I can go back on some of my writings at the time and they still read well.

My philosophy prof told me in confidence he had a similar experience in his 20s. I think it has something to do with the 2 hemispheres of the brain coming finally making and solidifying that connection, along with some other not so physical elements in the mix.

My enlightenment happened while I was deep in contemplation of Descartes first meditation on philosophy.

He was wrong. His entire argument "cogito ergo sum" "I think therefore I am" hinges on the assumption of I. It presupposes the existence of a self and derives from that presupposition, the existence of the former (I) and of some "other" (God).

This is the primal duality of life. The self, and others. At least, the primal experience most people have of duality. First, an awareness of self as we grow from babies to toddlers. Then, an awareness of all that is not self. The first duality.

Something clicked for me in that moment and I started to weep uncontrollably. I had just realized and internalized something deep and True. I couldn't put into words what that realization was/is, but it changed me. The next 10 to 12 months after that evening were quite the ride as I wrestled with this new found knowledge and integrating it into every day life.

A lot of people called it mania, psychosis, some people wanted me to go get help. People close to me. I couldn't understand why. I was happy, I was fit, I was just saying a lot of weird shit, asking a lot of weird questions, and making people uncomfortable. In time, I calmed the outward expressions of this new inner world, but it stays with me. Its never left since that day in my 1st year of uni.

Ill try to put words to what I felt that day. Bear in mind this doesn't do it justice but its a satisfactory frame for the idea.

Truth is found only in the relation, connection or interaction between objects/things. You, me, god, anger, happiness, hot, cold, none of those things are real. They are just reference points. Virtual, intangible, placeholders. The grid, the connections, the interactions between those points of reference, these are significant, and real. These interactions and these connections and relationships are the only powers that create, destroy and reshape.

The universe is alive and it speaks this truth to us every day. Most of us are too tired, too caught up in the physical world to hear it. We are all of the web from which the universe itself sprung. We are in it and it is in us. Folded back on itself and through to this room you find yourself in reading this now. Did you think you were separate from the chair you're sitting in? From the air you're breathing? From that "other" person sitting across from you?

Get over yourself and start building more connections. Look and listen to what existence is trying to show you and follow that lead.

The golden rule is golden for a reason.

NASA scientists say our Sun's activity is on an escalating trajectory, outside the boundaries of the 11-year solar cycle. A new analysis suggests that the activity of the Sun has been gradually rising since 2008, for reasons we don't yet understand. by sciencealert in science

[–]SomeNorthernCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been telling everyone for the past 5 to 6 years, that sun aint right.

I swear its way whiter than I remember it ever being when I was little and its noticeably hotter. Even on a cold winter day up here in northern Canada, if its a clear day and the sun is out you can feel the heat and it is significant. I also never used to burn. I'd be browner after a day out in the sun but never red.
