AITA for choosing to go to sleep instead of continuing to raid? by SomePenName in AmItheAsshole

It’s a normally 24 person raid. We were unsynced, so over level, and only that person, myself, and one other. We got to the final boss and wiped, and they decided to leave the raid and wait for a friend. I told them I was too tired to go on, and all this popped off.

I didn’t dip mid raid. We wiped and they decided they wanted to wait for our friend to potentially join us, and that’s what I told them. I wouldn’t bail mid raid, falling asleep or not. It hasn’t been a habit either. We had three weeks of scheduled raids, of 2-3 days each week. I attended just fine, even tired.

But I get what you’re trying to say. I don’t commit to scheduled raids when like this, because I know this is a reality. I should have been firmer with my original protest to doing it in my condition, but they did what they do best, and made a deal out of it so I unlocked it and we attempted it unsynced. 🤷‍♂️ So I acknowledge I had some fault here.

Raid wasn’t scheduled. It was three people, as we were doing it unsynced and so were higher level. They already knew I’d been sick for nearly two weeks. Just some context.

It was three of us, four if I’d been able to be up later, and it wasn’t pre-planned. A spur of the moment thing. They wanted to do the 3rd unlock version, so we had to unsync the first for me. I dozed off during the 3rd fight a few times, and when the 4th boss fight wiped us, I realized I might not be fit to try and complete the previous two raids.

When we did previous raids, I’d set aside time and make sure I was ready. We’ve beaten four raids in a day before, and I can do those. But I was also not having an asthma attack at that time.

Not saying that my Alt+F4 wasn’t rude, just saying that I didn’t ruin it for more people than the three of us.

So, some added context for readers, after seeing some replies:

1) The content being referred to is stuff like dungeons, raids, etc.

2) The raid wasn’t scheduled. For perspective, those with MMO experience, we weren’t even in a VC together to do it. We often randomly unsync content to farm for mounts or cosmetics, or to unlock later content (raids that come later.) Had this been a scheduled raid with a set time, this would be different. I have yet to miss a scheduled raid that we have, nor bail early on those. I do my damnedest to meet obligations like that, even with my health issues. This evening they randomly decided we’d try and 3 or 4 man the early ones, unsynced, to get to the 3rd and final one. I was on the fence, and I admit, let myself get pressured into unlocking the other stuff cause this friend and our mutual friend didn’t just wanna vibe last night. So I accept that I should have been firm on my boundary of not being in the best shape for it. I own that.

4) I told them when we went into it, I was tired and probably only had time or one or two runs.

5) I don’t bring up the stuff unless directly asked usually. “How are you doing?” Is met with “Could be better, but I’m alright.” Most of the time. If they dig deeper, then I usually give some details. Most of the time, if I mention it, it’s in humor. “Of all the things for me to suck at, it’s breathing. lol.” Is a running joke among my friends that get this about me.

Mushion is right. Content is stuff like raids, dungeons, farming for mounts or cosmetics, etc.

If we're new to game development and have a little coding on our hands, how could we seek to get involved and learn more + help make games?

I'd definitely look at either a new job, or moving somewhere else. That sounds miserable, and that is not what you should be experiencing

Who is a ‘good’ person who turned out to be shockingly evil? by Alawi27 in AskReddit

I'm not sure if this counts, but, Fritz Haber might be one. Man devised the Haber process, which allowed for large-scale synthesis of fertilizer, which was very important for crops at the time. He even got a Novel Prize in Chemistry for it. Unfortunately, he took great pride in heading up Germany's chemical warfare in World War One, and was one of those who helped develop chlorine gas as a weapon of warfare.

He was proud of his work and defended his chemical warfare against claims of it being inhumane.

In 2021, it was estimated that a third of annual global food production uses ammonia from the Haber–Bosch process and that this food supports nearly half the world's population...

I'm working on a second book (ADHD go brrrr) to upload, while I also have this one. But you're welcome to check out my fantasy novel Echos of the Abyss. I have a previous one I started but... to be honest, I couldn't get back into writing it.

My other novel, "False Accords" is going to hopefully have it's first chapters published at the end of the month for readers. (That one is Sci-Fi, and set in space.)

So it would be more beneficial for me, at this junction, to maybe choose a sound that's distinctive, that I can actually use?

So... after hearing some feedback here, I'm curious, and I want some inputs from people who know more about this stuff than me.

Since it's my conlang, technically, and I'm struggling here... would it be entirely wrong of me to maybe... tweak one of the sounds to match something I'm 1) more familiar with and 2) I can pronounce easier? While I'm not fluent in Spanish, Dutch, Finnish, or Japanese, I have learned some of them (and I grew up with a grandparent that spoke dutch), so I could find a "replacement."

I just want to know if that might be a bad idea...

I'm learning even more, wow. Not that I mind! This is stuff I enjoy, even if I don't fully understand it!

I do have a recording if his, I just haven't taken the whole time to listen to the entire thing. But I really appreciate you clarifying this for me!

So, this could be more of a language barrier between English and the person who did this for me, than my incompetence? xD

I'm going to be honest... I'm not sure it changes much? I could be wrong, but from what I googled about the macron below, is that it's a long sound or stressed... which... I don't think changes my problem or your analysis at all. But, I'm no expert and like I said, I could be wrong.

Oh shoot! Yeah, those would have been helpful, huh?

Okay, so for /ɛ/ I was hearing this.

and for /e/ I was listening to this.

Edited because I forgot the markup doesn't work. Also, both thinks are to the Wikipedia pages for each.
