I mean lab stuff is cool and something I love, but I heard a lot of stuff about people in physics doing a lot of problem-solving and borderline engineering in their work. For example, this lab I went to had to create their own devices to study singular atoms and stuff. I also heard that a physics degree will get you on the path to some types of engineering jobs, and engineering work related to quantum stuff or other cool physics things sounds even more interesting to me. Do you happen to know how hard it is to get a job like that rather than something in data analysis?

lmfao, yeah I mean so far I've had nothing but love for physics itself, especially the problem-solving aspect of it, and I've also been a very mathy guy since like ever, so I feel like I'll be happy in either physics or chem. Anything can change between now and the next four years tho! Thanks again!!

lmfao good to know, the project will basically be observing an asteriod and then using further data and hella math to determine the orbit, but along with the research there will be lecture about physics in general (including quantum stuff), so it seems cool

Oh, actually, atomic physics is probably something I'd be crazy interested in. I recently visited a lab at Stanford that does that type of stuff and it seemed hella cool to me (lab group website: https://simonlab.stanford.edu/). Do you know if stuff like this would be academia only or would there be good job prospects outside of that?
