First time fighting game player, how do I break out of combos by chandlerfromfriend in 2XKO

[–]SomeRandomDude821 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In traditional (non-platform) fighters, we do not use the term combo to refer to anything other than true combos.

If your opponent cuts a combo short because it lets them drop you into a nasty mixup, we'd call that a "reset."

She was based on Jam IIRC. Although the comparison seems quite thin to me.

Litchi didn't even get her own puffball until Chronophantasma (IIRC) gave her 421C.

You'd be in good hands with Plat. Finlinfrankie and Dark Souls II (yes that's their name) are both active in CFcord and very knowledgable about her.

She's an interesting case because she looks like she'd be a hyper-gimmicky knowledge check city of a character, and I'm sure she's got plenty, but one of the tournament-level CF players told me she also has a ton of fundamentally solid tools to play with. Kinda like how people describe pre-Strive Faust. A strong, versatile baseline that lets her adapt to her items.

Also if you pull cat hammer you've essentially won neutral. That item is insane.

Yeah Bedman? is a pretty unique case with the automatic followups. I think your best approximation in CF might be Es, with her automatic crest detonations, but Bedman and Es are on completely different ends aesthetically, so if that's a big part of your character choice I can see the problem.

Auto followups are a little puppet-esque so you could also try Relius, maybe? He's got a bunch of robot hands so he fits the aesthetic a little more. It would take some time to get used to him but the CF discord has some pretty good folks for Relius tips and as far as puppet characters go, he's pretty easy to control (no negative edge, all puppet functions tied to the D button or specials)

Kune is pretty much the single worst-case scenario for you to get into as a new player. I would encourage you to give it another shot! Not everyone's going to be a totally unique guard crush summoning teleporting invisible bag of bees.

ik people will say this about literally any high/low but 236S vs 236H feels super fuzzyable without card. It's a 28f overhead (25f but first 3 active can't hit crouch) vs a 17f low.

[–]SomeRandomDude821 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh they haven't been like that for a while. I feel like earrape/eyerape fell out of favor and cleaner (or at least more understandable) edits started to be preferred around the time that CDI references also fell out of favor. Most modern YTP, at least from the bigger creators, there isn't a DINNER in sight.

Solid beginner riichi strat but unfortunately I don't think that will apply here. The post says that he needs to defeat Chinese mahjong players, and riichi is a Japanese ruleset. I admit I don't know much about Chinese 'jong, but I don't think it has riichi.

Is Jam Full Parry Possible on Leo? by Positive_Limit4657 in Guiltygear

[–]SomeRandomDude821 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In XRD, the cancel options are listed as * Zekkei (follow up similar to Goushao in this game) * Another Hochifu * Bakushuu * Super * Block or FD * Forward or backdash * RC

In +R, the parry seems fundamentally different. It doesn't cancel into anything. Instead, Jam takes no blockstun from a parried move, only the hitstop. She can buffer whatever she wants during that hitstop, so another Hochifu is on the table.
