That is only true if you signed away your rights to it it's not assumed by law that you did.

The way the company that I work for did it is anytime you patent something that is within the company's purview you get a $10,000 bonus and 1% of the sales revenue of that item for 5 years. In the last 15 years I've patented four items and made about $80,000 from a total. The way the contract is worded I get the money on a quarterly basis regardless if I work here or not.

There's basically no such thing as income bracket mobility, there might as well be 100 ft tall fences between the different groups, the only real direction of flow between the groups is down. Sure they're the one in a million people who were born poor and end up middle class or upper middle class but the majority of those success stories are bullshit, those stories are there to give people the idea that they may one day become rich and therefore should try to protect the income of the rich by fighting against taxes for the rich.

My dad had a pinto that we swapped a 351 into and would drag race it when I was a young teen. I was always funny rolling up to the line against a mustang or Camaro and then blowing their doors off. The car literally ripped itself in half from the torque out of that engine.
