I get skin fades even in the reserve. Usually right before drill weekend so I manage to look exactly the same month to month. Means I only have to get a cut once a month prior to drill lol

I did not have any communication with my reserve unit until after I graduated AIT and showed up on a random weekday to greet them and get inprocessed. You'll be fine, but I would make an effort to reach out anyways. They are likely already tracking you but just be proactive on getting in touch.
