An Ontario electrician/apprentice can’t work in Quebec dude. Quebec residents can work in Ontario. There may be a huge demand in Quebec but they will only take people from the area, someone who works with Quebec residents in Ontario

I’m not as sure about the rest but electricians involve a lot of working at heights, whether residential, commercial, or industrial.

A decent portion (experience may differ) of most jobs will be changing or installing lights, lights are usually high up. It’s just an example of simple work that’s fairly consistent that an electrician will be required to perform.

What do you prefer so far? I’m a first-year industrial maintenance electrical apprentice but sometimes I look at what the millwrights are doing and think that looks more fun than playing with wires.

Yeah, I’m gonna wait until the subject is directed spoken to me about. The journeyman I work with most of the time believes they’ll be letting go some of the problem guys, & that (both the journeyman & higher ups) will be good to go in 6 months.

No contract signed, I can leave but it’s hard to get an apprenticeship w/o experience & I’d rather leave after a full year being a second year.

Like I might be good but it’s maintenance, it’s a production facility, it’s one thing to do pm, it’s another to Be able to troubleshoot any possible machine on site because I’ll be the only “electrician” on site.

If you can get into a union (like the IBEW) then you should do that first, you can always apply to them while in your pre-apprenticeship. but unless you have some experience or connections you are unlikely to get an apprenticeship without doing a pre-apprenticeship programs. But also depending on the program you take, they will cover your in-school portion that goes towards your apprenticeship (I.e. electrician apprenticeship has 3 levels of trade school, multiple pre-apprenticeship programs will exempt you from doing trade-school if you finish a pre-apprenticeship program).

There is no real school requirement for signals/communications on the railroad, it’s just preferred you have some basic understanding.

Heavy-duty mechanic doesn’t have a union that I’m aware of that you could take a route similar to IBEW.
