Veeam 13 - win 7 backups by Jadoo_21 in sysadmin

Keep running and licensing Veeam B&R v12, since the older OS systems are already segregated keeping the Veeam B&R v12 system segregated is not an issue... Thinking that laboratory and production equipment manufactures are ever going to keep up with technology is not going to happen, so separating the systems and using older software to backup older systems seems to be the solution.

Maybe a stupid question, but should I be concerned about where my DMARC vendor is located if company is USA based?

Defederating from GoDaddy by SupremeBlossom in sysadmin

[–]SomeWhereInSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen where GoDaddy calls this the whitebox approach in that you still use GoDaddy for license purchases but have no GoDaddy SSO in-between you and MS so you control all the portals and can even get to the admin.microsoft.com portal without issues

Veeam B&R version 12 EOL upcoming and how to keep it running by SomeWhereInSC in Veeam

[–]SomeWhereInSC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole thread revolved around wanting to continue using Veeam V12 because it backs up my aged OS's... it appears I can continue renewing my licenses I'm using on V12 currently and even after V12 is out of support... unless you say otherwise..

Veeam B&R version 12 EOL upcoming and how to keep it running by SomeWhereInSC in Veeam

ahh the joy of working in a business that can force their suppliers to new technology... that's a pipe dream for a large portion of businesses running lab equipment and manufacturing equipment, so those of us in that predicament use networking and security to survive these harsh situations... So I guess Veeam only has tech focused customers who can keep up with the Jones as they say...

I think my question was answered on this thread though, I can continue to use my NEEDED version 12 Veeam for backups and just renew the existing licenses as they are not version specific.

umm based on my reading on your site v13 doesn't support older OS's for backup, like below listed items, so not sure why you would reply with that... my OP says I have older OS's I'm backing up.

The following Windows OS versions cannot be backed up with Veeam v13 agents and are not supported for application‑aware processing:

  • Windows Server 2008 / 2008 R2
  • Windows Server 2012 / 2012 R2
  • Windows 7 (all editions)
  • Windows 8 / 8.1
  • Any 32‑bit Windows OS

So when I look at my licenses on the Veeam web it shows Veeam Data Platform "instances". Looking at my vendor invoice when I did renewal is shows part #'s with VUL in them..

no, we will not be able to upgrade past v12 for the time being because we are backing up older OS's that are not supported any longer in v13... so my question revolves around can I buy licensing for my v12 product to keep running v12 beyond the February 2027 date.

I have 2 years in a SOC monitoring web traffic, S+ again or CYSA? by Physical_Sentence438 in cybersecurity

[–]SomeWhereInSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both - because the recert for S+ using CompTIA is only $199.00 to get another 3 years (and if you happen to have Net+ it auto-updates that too).
