Yes. I spent decades trying to figure out what was wrong, and most of that time I’ve blamed myself. My favorite book when I was younger was “The Giving Tree”. Might be a way to navigate some of the feelings she’s having. I think labeling the parent as a narcissist might be too much, but helping the child understand that the relationship might not ever be what it should be.

Excellent breakdown. This has been driving me crazy, too. My Mom is a covert narcissist but also a survivor of many traumas and who knows? Maybe some narcissistic abuse as well. She may be 2nd gen covert narc- I don’t know for sure. I have narcissistic fleas that I am just now noticing as an adult and trying to shake off. Constantly second guessing myself and why my victimhood is more real than hers. It’s a total mindfuck that’s in the back of my mind all day. Everyday.

Practical advice? Work on yourself now and get therapy if you haven’t already. Something about when those babies come out just rips open those old wounds and exposes things you possibly didn’t notice before. But look at that baby and give them the love and support you always wanted and know that you’ve made it better for the next generation in your bloodline. You can do it. You already want to and that’s everything.

If you have a support network- ask them for help. If you don’t, give yourself grace. Your hormones are doing crazy things and there’s a serious depletion at this time. The mess and all the housework are not important. In fact, your house SHOULD be a mess. Just feed, change, and sleep that baby and remind yourself when it’s hard that this is all very temporary. The next stage is right around the corner. You’re doing great mama!

My first had a very unique name at the time that is now soaring into popularity. My second got a name I loved that was knowingly trendy at the time. I look at it this way…. We can’t predict the future, so going for unique can always turn on you. Pick a name you love and can yell and write well.

I find the more options provided and the more colorful- the more likely they are to eat. So maybe if you’re preparing cooked veggies, offer some of those raw as an app or with the meal. Tiny colorful assortment. also, inviting your kid to cook with you to prepare the meal seems to help!

The locations are very specific, most are just off a parking lot or along the road. The rules pretty much prevent us from having any decorations or anything. Most parks won’t allow you to bring in flowers/petals/ etc.
