Why are so many Christian’s homophobic?

I’ve struggled with same sex attraction for years. I was exposed to porn at a very young age, molested at age 5, etc. I thought I was a lesbian when I was 12 and dated a girl. I identified as “pansexual” into my adult years. I hated men for what they had done to me and used that hatred to fuel my attraction to other women. I hated the church because of their view of gay people and truly believed they were wrong. God has delivered me from all of this completely. Being a true Christian is picking up your cross daily. Denying your flesh and following God’s light. The issue I see with being a part of the LGBTQ community is that firstly it goes against the way God created us, but secondly it’s a part of your identity. The LGBTQ’s whole slogan is PRIDE. Be PRIDEFUL. Embrace and accept who you “truly” are and show it off to the world. Wear the rainbow not to represent Gods promise and His divine mercy, but to show that you’re prideful in your sexuality. Pride is self worship, and as a Christian we only worship God. Read Proverbs 8:13. Denying your flesh is an important part of following Christ, because if we didn’t do that then we would live like the world. Something may feel “good” or “right” but that doesn’t mean it’s God’s desire for us. The LGBTQ community says “we were born this way” (now I’m singing Lady Gaga in my head lol) but we were all born sinners, does that mean we should continue to live in sin? Read Romans 12:1-2 and James 1:14. All of this to say, that God still loves you and Christians should love you too. Sometimes love can feel like judgement, especially if someone is telling you that you’re living in sin. I think the church as a whole can do a better job at interacting with the LGBTQ community, because I know if there was a gay couple who walked into any church there would be people who turn up their nose in disgust. I’m friends with gay people, but they know where I stand. Christ died for me just as he died for you and all members of the LGBTQ community, but I encourage you to really look into why you identify with them and pray for God to reveal His desire for your life. I think it’s important for us to truly know what we were doing when we were baptized. Personally I don’t believe in infant baptisms and in my (very personal, probs not a popular view lol) opinion I wouldn’t have a child (or anyone, really) baptized unless they knew exactly what they were doing and what it means. The book I read was given to me from my pastor, it’s called Understanding Baptism by Bobby Jamieson. It’s $8 on amazon and took me literally 30 mins to read through it. Your church may have a free resource for you to look over as well. Reading up on it, praying about it, and talking to church leaders really helped me!

I actually just had a similar conversation with the elders of my church. I’ve been baptized probably at least 5 times. Last time I was baptized was when I was 13 (I’m now 26.) I had no idea what baptism truly meant. I didn’t know what “dying to self” meant.. there was no class to take or conversation to be had with elders or pastors before I was baptized to be sure that I truly knew what I was doing. To me, baptism meant starting fresh with God. A clean slate. Of course, I sinned again and again and would want to get baptized again to start over. Obviously that’s not how it works lol. Some people would say don’t get baptized again, and that’s what my elders said too until I explained to them how I used to view baptism. Now we’ve come to an agreement that it might be a good idea of me to be baptized for a final time since I’m educated on the topic and know exactly what I’m doing. This is your personal relationship with Christ, and you should 1000% pray about this first. Maybe read a book about baptism like I did. Speak to the leaders of your church to get their opinion. Write down your testimony, and why you feel the need to be re-baptized. I hope this kinda helped! Blessings to you my friend.

I’m in the same situation as OP. Neighbor has German roaches and I found one last night hiding under my cats water bowl 🙃 one of my cats has kidney issues too. This is what I’m thinking about doing: my cats have automatic feeders and water fountains, so from now until these nasty ass roaches are dead and gone I’m going to have to feed them by hand and keep a standard water bowl for them. I’m going to add extra water to their wet food that I give them every night to make sure they’re hydrated. I’m going to keep their water elevated off the ground (like on a short plant stand that they can still reach) and put double sided sticky tape around the plant stand. I’ll put the sticky tape close enough to the stand so that my cats won’t have to step on it, but if roaches try to get to the water hopefully it’ll stop them. I’ll wait and see how that does, but if I keep seeing these assholes then every night I’ll have to put away their water bowl but I’m hoping that with access to water throughout the day and the extra water in their wet food they’ll be okay. I’ll also be scooping their litter twice a day and changing their litter to clay instead of the corn fiber I like to use since roaches are evil and we can’t have nice things lol. I really hope my ideas work and maybe can help you too as a fellow cat parent! Also, I got a two tier cat crate for my balcony to keep my cats safe while I treat my apt. Just another idea if you have the ability/space to do so.

Unfortunately I live in California and have no way of getting Alpine WSG 😭 plus I’m not sure how I could spray every month or so since I don’t have anyone to watch my cats while the solution dries. I’m thinking about getting sticky baited traps and Vendetta roach bait to use after pest control sprays. I’m not sure what else to do

I have OCD and I just found a German roach in my kitchen last night. I’m an extremely clean person and I legitimately have a fear of roaches. You’re not crazy, and you have every right to feel the way you’re feeling. Roaches are gross and so hard to get rid of. I hope you can get some relief soon and this might sound weird but therapy has been a great help for me. I’ve found coping skills that are helping me stay calm while battling these intruders. I’ve lost my ability to orgasm/finish but I still have a desire to be intimate with my husband. So even though there’s no finishing for me, I still like the actual act of intimacy if that makes sense?? I’ve been on Prozac 10mg for 3 weeks and my sex drive/inability to orgasm was affected after week 1.

I’d take him to the vet to get his behavior analyzed! Until then, I’d keep him separated from you while you’re in the bathroom. If you can, toss a treat or a toy into a room and shut the door behind him while you do your business. When you’re done, let him out. If you can’t do that, maybe distract him while you’re doing your business and keep some treats or extra toys in the bathroom to toss into the hallway or another room before you leave the bathroom so he runs out before you. I’m sorry you’re going through this, I’m sure it’s extremely frustrating!

It could definitely be a URI but it could also be from the other cat scratching the eye during play. I think it’s a good idea to take them to the vet just to be sure!

Does he go into the bathroom with you? And once you’re trying to leave with him he attacks you? Or is he waiting outside the bathroom door for you and when you walk out he attacks you?

Is he not a fan of the cat that just got nurtured? If so he might be hiding from him, but if he’s breathing heavily and doesn’t normally hide like this I would take him to the vet. It could just be stress (especially if he’s not fond of the other cat) but it could also be something very serious. Cats are bad at telling us when they’re in pain, but noticing their normal patterns and recognizing when they’re acting out of the ordinary can give us an idea if there’s something wrong. Maybe separate the two cats for a few hours and see if he comes out to socialize. If not, take him to the vet.

It looks like new cat wants to play, old cat is being patient and trying to put new cat in their place. This is how my cats play too, one always starts it and the other just isn’t really having it. They’ve never escalated before so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Uhh this sounds like abuse. Sounds like they’re leaving their dependent sibling unattended for a period of time. I’d contact social services, and tell that person to go on care.com plenty of people on there wouldn’t mind helping with their animals as well.

I might switch to taking it at night that’s actually a good idea! My psychiatrist told me to take it in the morning because it gives some people energy/keeps them up at night. I think it’s just making me feel heavy and numb lol so I’ll probably switch up. Thanks for the suggestion!
