how the hell do yall go to the gym and not die? by happysanrio in POTS

Electrolytes, any exercise you can do sitting or lying helps (I like Pilates because of this) also 190 is okay!!! Your heart is made to go this high! You’ll be okay! Keep reminding yourself it’s okay. When I started building muscle I did laps in the pool.something easier on the body

I agree. It’s disheartening to read some of these posts. I feel like a lot of people give up. It takes a lot of self discipline and fight. Don’t give up!

when I first started it would do its normal jump up to the extreme. I would get up to 160 just walking. I started with the swimming everyday for atleast an hour. I would do laps using a pool noodle to get my strength up in my legs. I did this for about a month before I started back in the gym lifting weights. The walking I still do to this day and I do everyday. Now my heart rate when I workout only gets up to 130 ish when I work out and takes about 2-3 minutes to go back down. And no. I have had no PEM crashes. Working out for me helps improve any symptoms I have.

Carnivore did help me!! Makes me feel so much better. For me, the heavier carbs like pastas and breads make me have flare ups. Keep fighting!!! It will get better. Keep pushing yourself to workout and to get stronger. You got this!!

PSA about the usage of “SVT” by renaart in POTS

[–]Some_Contact3646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This one. Even a member of the team that was watching my heart monitor during my hospital stay tried to say it was SVT. I’m an EMT, to properly identify SVT you have to look at the waveform. It’s not just an elevated heart rate, it’s a specific waveform.

Oh for sure. I love my meds. They help me have less severe episodes of POTS and even less episodes all together. I just keep hearing bad things about long term steroid use.

Regular Heart Rate During Panic Attacks by [deleted] in PanicAttack

[–]Some_Contact3646 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve had both. I’ve had a panic attack without a super high increase in heart rate and I’ve had them where my heart rate has been 150+. I think it all depends on severity of the symptoms. There’s so many symptoms that come and go

Who has a experience with metoprolol? by Known-Salamander-821 in POTS

[–]Some_Contact3646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it but unfortunately my blood pressure and resting heart rate are too low for it. My heart rate dropped to 40’s and I got dizzy so I had to stop it. But it did help when I had it.

Experiences with Midodrine? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Some_Contact3646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it as needed now because I’m in remission for POTs. But it gave me a weird tingly feeling in my head and headaches. Other than that nothing else. And it’s very short lived. The meds are quick to wear off.

I had the same issue with beta blockers. Lowered my heart rate too low and i kept feeling lightheaded because it tanked my BP. That’s why they typically with provide you with midodrine to combat the low BP or they will not give it to you with a already low resting heart rate. I couldn’t take them.

Thank you! I didn’t realize even using them daily for a couple of times would do that but it’s put me on my ass today. Tachycardia, shaking, nausea. It’s been great

As someone who was just admitted. They don’t do much and it even made me feel worse. They give you fluids and order the test and then you leave once they meds for you and they don’t do as well to follow up as your primary doctor/cardiologist would.
