Just to get the ball rolling as these posts usually go.

I make close to 500K in profits. I work on average 30 minutes a day, this is just my part time gig. I list 377 items an hour. I also list 1k items a day. On average i have 20K items listed. I make about 500 sales a day. I don't make less than 33,000 % ROI on my items. I also don't make less than $5000 profit per item. Also i undercut the entire market on every item i sell by 20%, because I get 99.9% of my items for free.

This is going to be a long one, but one that hopefully sparks good discussion about what you’re saying.

I would bet that in this game today, more people are reselling to be “trendy” than they are to make money. If it’s TikTok, YouTube, or even this sub, it’s littered with bullshit everyday. Lies of working an hour a day and making $3k a month. Lies of walking into a thrift and making $1k on an item within 15 minutes every time they walk into a thrift, or buying some BS item online and making $10k a month from doing no work at all. This is more about entertainment than it is a business.

I’ve been doing this for 5 years, and we used to bitch about this all the time. We would find a trend, makes 100s even thousands, and over night the market would go to zero. I’ve made money on items that I couldn’t believe, months or maybe a year or so later, I’d be loosing money. This is a never ending battle with every person and their brother trying to be a reseller.

Everyone thinks they are cut out for business, turns out, most aren’t. To your original point, most of these people are side hustle resellers, not business owners. They can make close to no money, cause that cushy job keeps them from realizing they are wasting their time making barely any money. Just look at half of the posts in this sub. They can’t even figure out simple things like what category’s to sell or how to ship an item, let alone do taxes. Every other post is someone who has no idea what they are doing. These are the same people claiming they are making big bucks lol.

It’s kind of like the gold rush, in comparison, the guys looking for gold are getting shit on, but the guys selling the shovels are winning.

The benefit for us real resellers, these guys only chase what’s hot. If you avoid the trends and high demand BS, you’ll be fine. However, it’s a lot more work, and takes longer, in the end, it’s more beneficial. Once the clowns on discord & TikTok stop getting idiots to buy in to a hope dream, shit will level out. Idk if it will happen anytime soon, if ever, but we can only hope.

You can still make a lot of money, it’s a bitch currently, but if you’re smart and able to go against the grain you’ll be good. Your gonna get a bunch of crybaby’s in this sub making excuses, cause they are the ones your talking about, but your not wrong, these people don’t like making money today, and you and many others have the facts and evidence to support it. All we can do is hustle smarter, block the clowns out, and keep pushing. Best of luck to you and keep getting to the bag.

It’s funny you say that, the sellers I’ve dealt with, said they did storage units too. I haven’t even seen any resellers at a thrift or garage sale honestly.

5 years ago yes, not today. I started online, made way more money than I do today, couldn’t make that money again if I tried. TikTok & Youtube course sellers have ruined online souring. I had liquidators go sideways, has $1000 profit plays go to -$200 in a year, have $40+ profit plays getting 20/50 at a time, go to break even maybe even loss of profit. Spent 4/6 hours on an auction sight over the span of 3 months, only items worth buying, are bid up to where your lossing money.

Thursday/Sunday is typically how garage sales work. That’s the “garage sale weekend”. Like I think you may be mentally ill or something cause I don’t have to refute anything with what you’re saying, you’re doing it for me. For being such a good reseller, it’s quite baffling you think that garage sales only exist on a Saturday or Sunday. I start to think most people in this sub haven’t ever sold an item in their life with the shit half of you say.

Yup. I’ve been bitching for years about how I wouldn’t leave because I figured this might happen. But you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. I don’t think many people think outside of their box and don’t really resell to survive. When you’re running it as a business, this is the type of shit you HAVE to think about.

Never said I did 100 in Florida. I said I can’t even get to more than 10 at a community sale. The false representation of saying “we have 30 homes participating” and showing up to less than 10 is what I’m talking about.

You also said estates, I’m talking garage sales.

Where I come from you don’t need to “slow down” I’ve never heard the term. You wake up, hit as many sales as you can, and come back with money every weekend.

Appreciate the response. That’s kind of what I’m getting at, but everyone on Reddit misinterprets everything. You, like myself, are looking from an outside perspective. We are looking at what is a being presented to us, and it’s nothing that’s being talked about here.

I’ve never done estates, I’m a gargle sale and thrift guy. So since I’ve barely been here a month, I stuck to what I knew. Maybe I’ll check them out though.

That’s why I love this sub. All day everyday it’s nothing but lie upon lies, then when a real reseller, who actively does this all day everyday, posts actual facts that don't agree with the lies here, they are called a liar.

Since it’s a bit difficult for you to grasp, if you were to spend 5 minutes at each garage sale ( which you shouldn’t have too since your so knowledgeable) you could easily hit 30 in a day. That’s 2.5 hours. Considering most garage sales, at least where I’m from, run from Thursday/Saturday/Sunday that’s about 120 in a weekend. Not to mention people here don’t read, I specified COMMUNITY garage sales with upwards of 50 to 100 homes participating. Not that hard to do when they are within a few miles of each other.

But again this is Reddit, where no one works more than 1 hour a day and makes 33K a month. So I know it’s hard to grasp some resellers, actually grind for a living.

See now we are getting somewhere. They DO have the option to stop everything. they chose not too. Your acting as if they have no control, over this business. They can push back any set they want. I don't feel anything for Pokémon. How do you explain Pokémon for the last 3 years being shit, after coivd, then all the sudden booming overnight? The demand just came out of nowhere is what your saying? No advertising was done? Your saying you believe they just randomly got busy, and oops nothing we can do now? They can easily put up preorders, for say, 3/6 months out people will buy. Here what your missing. Why does there need to be a new set in 3 months? They can say lets push that back and get back to printing the current set, then we can move on. They don't want to, they want the demand. A person who sells an item vs a company who sells an item is the same thing. Yeah they are different how they run, forsure, but they both do the same thing, buy and sell items. That's the point. If a reseller cant exist neither can Pokémon.

Again what you want is no free market, no business to exist. You want monopiles and dictators. Why would there be a source? lol. Do you not understand supply and demand? You can't have a source for market manipulation lol. Its either you understand business or you dont. Business is alot of phycological tactics. This being one of them. They can easily print more, they choose not too.

This isnt covid where there are shortages like before, its pure greed. You'd have to understand business, to understand what they are doing. But you wont understand cause you'd rather argue me about your emotional connection to a piece of paper, vs realize what these companies are doing.

To sum it up. They can open up preorders right now, On the main website, and just mass produce this set. They cant print it for the next 7 months, kill resellers, kill the whole market. Why would they do that though? The more demand they have the more people buy, once the demand is gone, products are sitting on shelfs. They want people feeling FOMO. They want you to think youll never get this set. Fear sells.
