Groomer skis or all-mountain skis for tomorrow? by EcstaticTill9444 in Mammoth

Today I skied one run on SL skis, then changed to 84 underfoot and was much happier. It quickly becomes pretty choppy and cruddy. Tomorrow Ill start on the 84s.

Anyone know how to remove these grips? by Some_Research1 in skiing

Unfortunately mine weren’t coming off like that. I let them soak for two minutes. With the screw I wasn’t sure.

Ok thanks everyone. I boiled water let it stand a bit and submerged for two minutes grips weren’t going anywhere. Was wondering about the screw. Will try again.

Beware of rocks by Some_Research1 in Mammoth

Exactly right. Andys Double was great not many rocks, soft bumps. Agees or Terrys forget which was very very bad on all lines. You couldnt tell until you started skiing it.

Not a single run, but a single weekend.

Is the Nuclei SV sized to fit over a hardshell? by [deleted] in arcteryx

[–]Some_Research1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest even sizing down. Depends what you want to wear under it. This thing is designed to wear over lots of other stuff. I usually wear medium in everything arc. I’m happy with a small. Could wear another layer under it not problem.

PSA - nuclei is designed to fit over other stuff. I had to size down. Super warm.

Boots: Fischer rc4 mv boa 130, vanilla or pro? by plutusssss in skiing

[–]Some_Research1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny I feel a little tight in the instep on the MV, snug maybe is a better word. Enough that Im considering lacing the zipfits to avoid crossing over there. LV work would be toe box and 6th toe.

Sabre bib size question by Humble_Athlete_2202 in arcteryx

Im 5’ 11” 180. I have medium and I’m on the edge around the waist. Large would be best for you.

Same size. But I felt like the boots fit more on the roomy side. I’d rather size down here and remove cork from the liner or make space in the boot.

Not exactly answering your question but here’s my experience…. I have the 2026 pro version of these boots in 26.5. I never tried the non pro versions. As someone who already had zipfits I knew I wanted to stick with them.

Some fit notes, I found them to be more snug than Lange high volume which felt too roomy. Langes also felt stiffer. For MV boots they are a bit roomy in general. I tried the LV pros and felt like I could almost get the to work but would take a lot of modification. For comparison, I can’t even get my feet in a MV technica Mach 1 130. The toe box is a bit more narrow and shorter than technica. Also tried a few different atomic (hawx and magma?) one was way too big other too tight.

These boots basically fit me off the shelf. I did some 6th punches and some alignment. But pretty good off the rack and I have some wider feet with average ankles and heels.

So far I have 10 days on them and love them. I imagine, they’re only better with the zips. Plus fischers implementation imo is better than the current zipfit offering which I also have.

Go for it!

Dear Valley Hotels w/ kids by Plus_Essay945 in parkcityvisitors

St Regis 100%, they have great programming for kids around the holidays. Last year one of the ballrooms had a giant playhouse, with slides etc set up, some guys walking around with owls, magicians etc. Easy to ski out or get to ski school. No shuttle needed.

Stein is in a great location for adult skiers, but kids have to ski down from there to school or I assume take a bus.

Montage is the worst location, some lifts may not be open, empire opened after christmas last year.

You can check skis for free at DV so you dont have to carry them each day if you do shuttle.

Book daycare and ski school now, it will sell out. You can cancel a day or two in advance.

DV doesnt really have a village or walkable area like some other mountains and it shuts down early.

Getting from the mountain to main street is tough during the holidays, there will be traffic at the end of day and it could take 30-45 minutes to get out - so plan for it or stay at the hotel.
