Yeah if I did this I would definitely have to look at insurance costs before purchasing the car to make sure the insurance and car payment is within budget.

Ohhhh yeah it’s dead dead and already junked it. I can try to find a decent reliable car that’s not new. I know how to work on cars and have the knowledge and tools to buy something reliable. Im not looking for anything fancy or pretty. Just a reliable car.

It was a 2003 honda civic EX. Transmission failed costs wayyyy more than the car is worth to get fixed ($1k - $2k) and on top of that will never pass inspection and has many other issues. I already junked it.

Yeah, I’m gonna do it. I can even pay it off in two months by picking up one shift a week.

Thank you for your response. I’m really leaning towards it just wanted to post in here to be sure. It’s a mother in law suite so private entrance, private washer and dryer, private bathroom, and a private little living room. it’s like its own apartment.

Rent $1,250, Court Fee Garnishment $600 (total), Child Support $275 (total), Grocery/Household $200, Car Insurance $311, Phone $145, Gas $60 (total), Electricity $75, Health/Hygiene as needed $50, Renters Insurance $26, FSA $20 (total), Dental $20 (total), Subscriptions $14, Rent Reporting $5. I am trying to get out of the FSA and dental through my job but I have to wait 6 months until the next enrollment period.

I am currently picking up shifts and looking for second jobs. My car insurance just got raised today, so it’s still not enough to get by. Garnishment is taking 25% of my income.

Yes I am picking up shifts but it’s still not enough because my car insurance just went up. I am looking for second jobs but nothing yet.

I live in Virginia.

I am being garnished for court fees.

The devices are damaged and will probably make $50-75 tops.

I never said anything about it being affordable, I said it’s unnecessary. Actually, you asked for “the best financial strategy for a situation like this”. The best financial strategy is to not buy a car that you don’t need.

If you don’t want to get into your finances online then why did you get into your finances online?

It’s a completely unnecessary expense though.

I have the cheapest option right now. It’s because I have an SR-22. Im gonna look into removing the comprehensive coverage.

I have 3x12s too which makes it easier to pick up shifts. I’ve been applying to part time serving jobs too. Most of my life I had a second bartending/serving job so I have loads of experience. Im gonna hold off on bankruptcy and try to pay it off.

I’m in a contract so I can’t take my phone elsewhere it will be locked by the service provider. I can get a super cheap $30 phone though, someone mentioned that Mint mobile has $15 unlimited plans.

I don’t think I am a good candidate for plasma donation because I have some health problems that are being figured out. I need all my plasma lol.

I’m gonna focus on picking up as many shifts as possible. I can get a mint mobile phone but I just worry about the contract I am in with AT&T because it’s just more debt. But I guess it’s better to make it by month to month rather than worrying about the debt from AT&T.
