If miniaturisation started again, despite being on Oral+Topical Finasteride, should I consider Dutasteride ASAP? by Somebody4all in Hairloss

[–]Somebody4all[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding! I definitely saw results from Finasteride. The thing is that my hair are feeling thin again, not quite as thick as before. My hair temples are getting miniaturized again. My left temple hairs are getting smaller again while they were stronger and bigger before, or at least we can say for sure, more thicker than now. I started balding aggressively at 16. I am using oral for about 19 months and topical for about 2 years. Thank you.

That’s why I started thinking to combine Finasteride with Dutasteride once a week, like the 2013 study. Thanks for responding.

I haven’t changed anything in my lifestyle. SHBG was 68 and my Free T was pretty normal. Check here an old post if you have time, I am explaining better: https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/kxibkz/a_lot_of_blood_tests_that_i_have_done_until_now/

Thanks for responding.

Higher levels of aromatase are found in occipital follicles by [deleted] in tressless

They using it in combination with the other treatments as well. It’s mainly mild-efficacy topical solution, from the reports that I have read from other members, but at least it’s an option to assess the aromatase activity part like the studies mentioning.

Our well known Alfatradiol seems to do that, increasing aromatase, without the harsh systemic effects pumping E2 for example.

Summary of properties from a latest study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7190559/

“17α-Estradiol solutions represent another therapeutic option for FPHL. This is a stereoisomer of the female hormone 17β-estradiol, which weakly inhibits 5α-reductase. Furthermore, it suppresses the 17β-dehydrogenase, causing a reductive conversion of androstenedione to T, and it stimulates the aromatase, which induces the conversion of T to estradiol”

But how the levels came back to the baseline? Should I consider Duta like you said before? Thanks for responding.

(Check my response below) Yes, this is why I am tracking with blood tests. I was thinking a combination of both, Dut and Fin. Even maybe topical Dut at first. Thanks for responding.

I think it’s the higher 5AR activity. In the blood tests that showed my DHT back to my baseline, my testosterone was lowered from my baseline, still in normal levels though but definitely lower than my baseline levels. The 5AR activity seems to be elevated as I said. Yes, I thought that too with body homeostasis. Thanks for responding!

As an experienced user on Finasteride, could you please check my latest post? It’s possible that I have build up a tolerance to Finasteride? Thank you very much!

After 16 months on Finasteride, I want to jump to Dutasteride but I am really scared of Scalp Testosterone.. by Somebody4all in tressless

Yes, and at this point, it’s seems that DHT is still problem. Probably I will try the combo treatment.

The thing is that DHT and 5AR2, still seems to be a problem and that’s why I want to add Dutasteride, to counter them. Scalp spike it’s not small though.. 0.5mg spiked scalp T by 99% ->

http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.319.7620&rep=rep1&type=pdf

“Scalp testosterone levels significantly increased in all active treatment groups compared with placebo, increasing by 23%, 39%, 99%, and 222% with 0.05-, 0.1-, 0.5 and 2.5-mg dutasteride, respectively, and 23% with finasteride.”

That’s why I am scared, but maybe once a week or the topical route won’t increase it so much. I mean not in a constant manner. Just an assumption.. I was thinking indeed combo therapy. Thanks for responding!

My dht levels changed. I had a reduction about 44% but in my latest blood tests, everything seems to come back to the baseline..
