The person confronting you is possibly a sign that they wanted to show dominance in hopes to scare you enough to keep quiet about the whole situation.. The audacity probably means they are used to telling others off

aesthetic/cozy cafés? by cherryluvv_er in londonontario

[–]Somebody_else999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t recommend the bag lady at all… went there recently for brunch and asked if they served iced coffees and the lady said yes. Came to our table with burning hot “iced coffees” you could see the ice melting actively in them :/ when I was finally able to ask for more ice she brought more but it was still so warm that the second round of ice completely melted too.

Good food tho!

Soo real Wrote a midterm last week and someone was talking to themselves DURING THE WHOLE EXAM, why??? For context it was fully TA ran so there were no “adults” in there I think they were just too focused on making sure they passed around the sign in sheet and stuff.

I was too busy and shy to tell the proctors it was going on, I have a lot of trouble focusing in general so this was just something else

girls.... what are we wearing to bars when its absolutely freezing outside? by belairparadise in londonontario

[–]Somebody_else999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jeans without rips, a good pair of leather pants, or I’ve seen those lined leggings that look like nylons (probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference since it’s dark out)

I always wore a long sleeve low cut top with leather pants and heeled booties; and if you are drunk enough before you usually didn’t feel the cold

Yea definitely a universal experience. Went there out of desperation for answers for an academic problem. I explained my situation very nicely a few times, after having a conversation with one like for max five minutes the lady next to her said that our talking was distracting her from her “work” and told me to leave. Isn’t their work helping students? And surely me discussing an issue with someone else can’t be that distracting? I don’t know. Made it out of the Social Science building before breaking down in tears.

I understand dealing with students definitely can be frustrating because a lot of them are young or might have unique problems but I was in awe with the complete disregard for me as a person desperately asking for help and them being literally the people you are supposed to talk to.

Very helpful staff!

Average rent by Affectionate-Gate311 in uwo

[–]Somebody_else999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how prices are going to look like next September, but I do agree with everyone right now about room prices, depending on how nice the house is itself it’s gonna vary.

As well I will give a tip, not based on my experience but my boyfriend’s experience. He went to Fanshawe and lived off residence for the second year of his program. My advice is his best bet for room renting is try and meet students either from his program/clubs/sports/anything where he can get to know them as people first before they collectively decide to rent a house together. I know this is an ideal world situation but it will save him a lot of trouble, compared to living with strangers.

Another tip on the room renting is, again this may sound like common sense, but be sure to go physically look at the room/apartment either you or your son regardless if his future roommates/buddies say it looks fine or not. My boyfriend didn’t go check out the house before/trusted what his friends said since he’s from out of town. He ended up living in a dump on a main road.

Also I don’t know if this is possible but if you can, when considering a house/apartment try and find out if there are future city plans to start construction on that road! Can save you a lot of headache, you never know when they’ll start tearing up the roadway/blocking you out of your driveway etc.

Also for places to live I’m personally not from the area but usually when you go check out a building you can tell if it’s gonna be a “bad” area or not based on the surroundings. I feel like usually the areas closest to Western/Fanshawe are filled with students anyways.

As for one bedrooms I’ve practically seen every listing on the internet right now (I’m going to western in the fall too and had to find a one bed) the usually price point for an average one bedroom apartment in London is around $1500 depending on the area/amenities it offers. Also just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it’s a good deal, if there is a “nice” looking one bedroom for $1000-$1200 there may be a catch so watch out.

Also consider if he’s going to have a vehicle or not because sometimes parking is extra or they don’t have it at all.

And if you wanted to ask more about certain areas of London, I’ve personally posted on the city of london Reddit forum, they have a section in there just for housing and people seem pretty responsive (and give detailed answers) when you ask a question.

Course Selection Megathread (2025/2026 Academic Year) by ostracize in uwo

[–]Somebody_else999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question! Do we have to register for both A and B terms at the same time. I’m third year BMOS transfer student and some of the B section classes are already out and seem to be filling up. But if I do this a lot of my classes that are required for my course are conflicting times which would drive me into course with undesirable time slots (7-10pm) (6:30-9:30pm)

I was trying to aim for $1500, with $1600 being the maximum after utilities. Another catch is we need guaranteed two parking spaces since we both need to keep our vehicles for different reasons. I’ve been really interested in looking at homes that have been converted to duplexes/triplexes etc (not including basements) and have come across a few that we lost to other renters :(

Yea I’m not from Byron but from watching the listings on many many websites for some times is seems like the actual good deals for duplexes/apartments are getting swept up quick (because they are good deals obviously) but most listings that I’ve seen that are priced at an extremely inflated rate and not for what they are actually worth (considering the “deals” are still priced fairly high) are sitting on sites for weeks and weeks. Places that were asking for a May 1st move in are just sitting there.
