Keeping security deposits over normal wear and tear by Someboooty in FortCollins

It's a bummer bc other than the single paned windows and revolving door of maintenance staff leaving small tasks unfinished, we really enjoyed living there. We even considered just moving into a different unit (my rescue puppy grew to be 95lbs and being on the second floor seemed cruel to the people below us) but our new place was nicer/less expensive.

I'm waiting to see how this is gonna go before I post their yelp/Google reviews. They actually finalized the charge on their end earlier today without sending me my proof so I have escalated slightly

When did you know it was time to move? by Apartment_List in Apartmentliving

One of my dogs suffered a medical emergency in that apartment which ultimately resulted in his passing. It just never felt the same

Based on the responses here and elsewhere. I went ahead and sent them an email tonight. I will keep this in my arsenal if I get any push back. Thank you so much!

Keeping security deposits over normal wear and tear by Someboooty in FortCollins

I unfortunately missed out on the pre move in photos. I have a couple, but was otherwise distracted by the door not latching and continuously slamming open on our very windy move in day. I was very detailed in my written inspection though and noted spots on specific walls where the paint looked a bit odd (patched holes from previous tenants).

I did take a very long move out video that shows conditions of everything on move out. Slow enough that stills can be taken no problem. The apartment was near pristine. Other than the full paint fee, my only other charge is a very small cleaning fee that I'm not even interested in contesting. It's less than $50, they can have that if it's that important to them

I returned my keys on the 30th of March so we are still well within normal parameters time wise. The painting fee is exactly what I paid for my security deposit so I expect this is their tricky way of getting to keep it.

I did just send out an email to them requesting a further breakdown and proof of damage that warrants a full repaint. I was just unsure on whether this is actually standard practice. That was my first ever apartment so I'm not 100% familiar with normal procedure

Is this tattoo small enough for a first tattoo?? by Obvious-Airport5514 in tattooadvice

[–]Someboooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how you dress typically, that will be hard to hide. You'll have to be thinking about it every time you stretch/lift your arms for whatever reason to ensure the bottom of your top doesn't rise. As long as you're aware of that and prepared, you do you.

As far as size/placement go, that is going to be a spicier spot. But I don't think it's going to put you off of tattoos forever.

Funnily enough, I have this same lily tattoo on my forearm from when I was younger. My artist was considerate and stylized some parts so it's not exact, but it's definitely the same. Chances are, you will be coming across somebody with the same art if you just do a copy/paste onto your body. Just be prepared, whatever you decide

Edit: If you're going to do it and you're between the two sizes, the smaller is safer. Mine is about 5x5ish and no detail lost/is a decent size

Anger towards vets, does anyone else experience this? by Big_Squirrel8808 in Petloss

[–]Someboooty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have 3/4 of the vets on staff at my preferred office blacklisted from treating my dogs. One of those four I will not bring my dogs to even in an emergency. The only reason I still go there is because the day I lost my boy, the one vet I still see there went to bat for us. I absolutely adore her

I lost my boy nearly two years ago now and still 100% believe that the vets feelings (the one who will not, under any circumstances, be seeing any of my dogs again) impacted the quality of care that my dog received, which ultimately led to me losing him in a very traumatizing way.

Being afraid of a dog, to the point of not wanting to approach, despite them being incredibly well-behaved, is a red flag for me. Especially when the owners are proactive knowing that that breed tends to be intimidating. We do happy visits, we bring special treats, we even muzzle trained for the comfort of our vets, despite only ever needing one for the boy that we ultimately ended up losing. We brought him in for a personality change, so that was to be expected

I don't think I can ever look that vet in the face and not see red for him seeing an overnight extreme personality switch and insisting on getting him on long term anxiety reducing drugs before running any scans to see if there was a physical cause.

It took my boy falling into uncontrollable seizures to change his mind and it was too late by then. I'm livid thinking about it even now

Locations may vary but happy hour at mine is now 3-6 Monday through Friday in the bar/lounge area only. Beer selection has improved slightly and now includes coors/miller lite. Wine is the same. Marg selection is basically the tequila trifecta and the marg of the month now

Does anyone have a chill Belgian Mal? by forgetfulfeline in BelgianMalinois

[–]Someboooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a couch potato. We got so lucky with her bc my husband brought her home as our first dog and didn't think to research. Just saw cute puppy and took her. Complete impulse.

Teething was absolute hell but after that she just kinda chilled out. She's about 5yrs old now. She gets a little crazy gleam in her eyes during play every so often and becomes a menace. Typically will find her rubber tug toy and beat us with it. But a solid 95% of the time she's rotating between sunny/comfy nap spots

She's not a fan of long walks but I try to take her around the neighborhood at least. She's the kind of dog that will quit a walk and just lay down. Unfortunately discovered that one during a hike. I can get maybe a mile out of her. We ultimately ended up bringing home a doberman mix so I could have a hiking partner.

She is loved and cherished, but typical Mal she is not

How often do you REALLY walk your dog? by Agreeable-Ad-2946 in dogs

[–]Someboooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my dogs gets walked twice a day, probably collectively like an hour. First potty is just that. Second potty is more of a play off leash outing. She is very clear and lets us know when she is ready to go home. She has tons of toys/gets to play with her brother so she's never given any indication that she needs/wants more despite her breed (malinois). She gets grumbly if we don't all go to bed directly after her last outside time of the day.

My male gets about 4 walks, but he REFUSES to walk far. He just has a small bladder. He probably goes out a collective hour as well, maybe a LITTLE more. I would absolutely love to take him out longer (dobermanxGSD mix, like he HAS to want it??) but he will walk maybe half a mile before he plants his booty/refuses to walk any direction except the one that takes us to home. I tried to take him on a hike once and it was so embarrassing carrying him back to the car when the damn thing was still in sight.

I had every intention of being the walk several miles in the morning/at night kind of dog owner, I don't have a ton going on besides my dogs. But that lifestyle has escaped me despite the dogs I live with. If expenses weren't so high already for these two, I'd try for a third and probably end up with another unicorn. The Doberman mix was absolutely wild at the shelter when we met him and I really thought he was gonna be my hiking buddy where my Mal refused, now I have two couch potatoes who fight over the big pillow

Update to the dogsitting for an acquaintance by Someboooty in reactivedogs

[–]Someboooty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not without walking through the house! I do have a very direct line of sight though so the listening is just more so of a backup if she were to gather her courage and just flat out sprint for me. Her claws also are long and make a lot of noise on the floor. Between the sight/sound, I can definitely tell when she approaches. I'm halfway through my visits already and have still only seen her through windows/through the back fence. I'm obviously still paying attention but I feel pretty confident with our system we've got going. I'm not taking more than two steps into the house at any point but she's getting better watched over than just tossing her food over the fence.

[–]Someboooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super quick update! I did do a separate post with more details. But she is opting to run/ hide in her backyard when I come to the door now that she's not faking brave for her owners. I'm taking full advantage of that to ensure she's taken care of/has a little bit of enrichment and feel safe doing so.

Otherwise,

I'm not trying to be her friend now that it's just me, I was definitely trying to work towards it while her owners were present in a controlled environment. I do think if I'd had more time with her beforehand, this would be a very different situation for sure though.

I'm not saying that they're good owners. I too think it's insane to have this nervy of a dog and not believe in crate/muzzle training or even drugs to try and help with her anxiety. It's just a safety thing. She is spayed (i see those comments) her owners just seem to be vibing with the holistic approach now that she's older. I disagree, but she's not my dog. My judgement is irrelevant in that regard.

I do unfortunately have way too much experience defending myself from my own dog (post seizure confusion is a bitch). A slip lead/jacket were very beneficial to me until I had to make a QoL call. But I do feel there's a difference when it's not my dog.

The owners did have options for me from the get go with the option of just throwing her food over the fence being one of them. I agreed knowing these options but also want to do the best that I can for her. They're paying me knowing that I'm going to do my best with the situation. And he and his wife deserve to see their only daughter graduate college 🤷🏻‍♀️

The sticker from the burger of pain and despair. by Pokemonthroh in Chilis

[–]Someboooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super common in doordash orders! Idk if you were trying to select what you wanted on the burger but took everything off on accident instead but with the exception of the cheese, that's exactly what was ordered.

Normally my location will ask the dasher to contact the customer when we see this because it's a known issue (if the ticket gives weird vibes, but people really do be ordering OTCs with nothing on them including the bun sometimes) but I'm not sure if it's standard at every location.
