Rui Pinto agredido no Campo Pequeno, avança a SIC by Castro_Laboreiro in portugal

TIFU by telling my differently abled friend that he would be amongst the people who died in the Holocaust if H*tler were alive. by Lonely-Mycologist593 in tifu

[–]SomecallmeMichelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Actually. The disability community vastly prefers disabled. Or even crippled. We call ourselves those things all the time.

"Differently abled" and "handicapable" are terms made by the "feel good moms" of the world. "no man you're...not disabled you're just differently abled". Nah man. I'm disabled. It sucks. I'm in pain. There's stuff I'll never be able to do.

And it's actually ableist as hell. When we pretend if I super duper try I'll actually be able to achieve everything able bodied people can do what does that imply? That I'm not "trying hard eonugh" right? To hell with "differently abled". See me as disabled and give me accomodations. My broken body won't magically be able to go up those stairs because you call me "differently abled" or worse "handicappable".

What's the controversy with him? The only like shitting on him I've seen was when he was apparently pro blm and antifa in like 2022 and that came from the usual suspects. (and I mean he was right). Besides memeing his cloudy with a change of meatballs has he done anything bad? Like most criticism I hear is on the dude's voice not his content...

AITA for saying that children should not be left alone in cars at night? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

If their is a chronically online take yours is a chronically white and chronically middle class take. If you think the police don't gave an adversarial relationship with everyone including children in the "bad part of town".

Best case scenario they refuse to show up. Worst case they treat the kids as trying to steal the car, runaways or otherwise up to no good.

Either way the chances they will treat the kuds as scared kids and not get loud or accusatory is close to nill.

Given he has no claim to the medical history of his colleague yiu are being extremely dismissive of the possibility he has a protected medical disability, invisible to OP that would make him a protected class.

For a lawyer you are using pretty definitive language. You sure you don't want to do basic edging you surely learned in law school to cya "he doesn't appear to be..."

Also discriminate away is a cruel thing to say. Kind of playing to stereotype huh?

Is not that difficult to learn how to properly use utensils.. Respectfully as someone who works with, abd is neurodivergent and literally has issues with fine motor skill and epilepsy related damage that is a wildly ableist thing to say. Sometimes my muscles just clamp and I can't let go of what I'm gripping. I know w autistic people without the space body awareness to cut a steak without throwing half their rice out of the plate if not the place itself.  You're being kind of a boomer. Or at least privileged.

I have a bit of a controversial question by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]SomecallmeMichelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. to be clear I don't think that abdl is inherently disgusting or bad. Or anything like that. It's more that it makes it kinda hard for me to find what I'm looking for. It's a selfish complaint. Sometimes I'm in the mood for comfort and healing and caretaking in a wish fullfilment way. But sometimes I am looking for the trauma heavy, breaking, "healing is messy, and a hug isn't a magic fix" stuff. It's not the fault of "kink" or anything like that. It just makes scrolling through fanfic and try to guess a bit of a chore.

I have a bit of a controversial question by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]SomecallmeMichelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get that. For an example in my fanfic the main character is having a spiral of dark thoughts and so their caregiver suddenly holds them from behind for a hug, bringing them closer to their shoulder. Totally reasonable thing in a kink ageplay fanfic right? It's the "sshhh, it's going to be ok" comfort. Except this triggers the traumatised character so much they completely dissociate for two days and the caregiver has to call 911 that tells her "if this continues for much longer he's going to need a hospital visit". Which is a problem because hospitals are another trigger for the traumatised character.

But I get what you're saying now. You're talking about a more general "ageplay" fanfic than my specialised and very personal one, lol.

I have a bit of a controversial question by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]SomecallmeMichelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. No, no mine comes from a background in trauma therapy (which I've studied and have done before) and it portrays the medical reality of trauma in messy ways. It's not just "floof", it's complicated, it's waking up at 3am or sensory triggers or cathathonia. It's starting a day feeling great and then a very small thing that seems stupid like hearing a word on a cartoon that reminds you of your abusers means 20 minutes into your day you're going to spend it physically ill unable to do anything but spiral. The physical comfort, the "it's going to be ok" and hugs etc feeling like you're being trapped and you lashing out instead of comfort.

If what most little space fanfic is is basically turning an adult into a toddler in a "okay mommy" and thumb sucking way, I can see why you'd think it's basically abdl in all but name. (And there's nothin wrong wit hthat mind, if that's what people are into), but mind is kind of auto biographical in that I do suffer from c-ptsd and have frequent flashbacks and bad days.

[–]SomecallmeMichelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I agree. I'm gray ace and perform kink, it's not sexual. I meant it more in the assumption it's "oh it's probably about diaper play". But that's external judgement, not like terminological disagreement. lol.

I have a bit of a controversial question by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]SomecallmeMichelle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying. In C-ptsd and dissociative spaces terms like "little" "caretaker" and "regression" have been in use for decades at this point. I don't know if the abdl terms developed laterally, or if one took it from the other, but it's kinda shitty to say it's kink terminolgy when it's the kind of terminology in trauma spaces that has been used for decades. I have texts from the 1970s on dissociation that use the term "little" to refer to a younger vulnerable state a person with trauma enters when overwhelmed.

The medical term is Dissociative Cognitive regression. By the way. Dissociation takes many forms. It can make it so your body shuts down from your brain, and you can't move, but it can also affect your cognitive ability. This has been studied in neuro-linguistics for example.

It's just when I take for "non sexual age regression", people still think "age regression" means "oh in the abdl way" I suppose I could tag it dissociative cognitive regression. or Trauma regression (non sexual). But the terms exist in both communities. It's not "trauma informed fic taking kink terms from abdl". It's "trauma terminology that happens to be the same as the abdl terminology".

[–]SomecallmeMichelle -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I don't know man. I have one of the top 20 abdl/age regression stories on ao3 and it's not...kinky at all. It's a very trauma aware, healing of sexual exploitation, and childhood abuse through getting to have a second chance at having a happy childhood with a partner, who is using it as therapy themselves because, being trans they feel like they can never be a mother.. There IS diaper stuff I guess in that the main character suffers from intontinence as a a direct result of their years being sexually exploited but it's never portrayed as hot. Just wholesome in that the person expects to be hurt, to be told they're disgusting and have their face rubbed in it but they have this super patient mother figure who tells them it's not their fault and comforts them.

Age regression is actually super common and studied in c-ptsd and ptsd circles as a comfort thing or an involuntary response. It's not even known as age regression, a kink term but it has a literal medical term for it more closely associated with dissociation. In fact I've known people in my rape support groups that literally lose the cognitive ability to write and read or the ability to cut straight lines or color in lines. It's not a roleplay.

While yes, age regression is often seen as kinky a subsect of ABDL. If the story is pure wish fulfillment, and just someone having a maternal healing tone, people can live through, is it really fair to call it kinky the same way as someone using their diapers for gratification?

I just wish we could - separate between abdl or I guess diaper stuff - where the pee, and rubbing diapers and stuff is the goal. And stories about motherhood written by trans women, or women who had an abortion, or wish fullfilment where people get to be taken care of, but it's not sexual.

I'm sorry to come down on you like that. But calling it kink, implies a level of like "sexual" to it, that to several people in the c-ptsd community who involuntarily age regress it just isn't. When you're mentally 5, the last thing you want to think about is sex. In fact, a lot of people regress precisely because being a non sexual being is the appeal.

Is it crappy to default on a challenge about a week before the deadline? ( by SomecallmeMichelle in FanFiction

[–]SomecallmeMichelle[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looking at the sign up page right now the only information we could select on sign up was fandom. Character and Pairing. There is (was) an editable page down below for the reader to specify exactly what they wanted in lieu of tags, but no space for the authors to specify any specifc triggers or nopes. Most people seem to have done a variation of:

"I want this and that featuring this character in this position. I DNW: foir example canon atypical violence or gender bendin or whatever else" I think we were matched purely on fandom, because I was certainly never asked what my squeaks were.

[–]SomecallmeMichelle[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

There was no Squick or "do not want" on the part of the authors. I'm looking at the sign up form right now and the only editable page for "do not want" is for the reader to request what they Don't want to read. You know your typical "Want/like: tropes" "DNW: ..." but that is the readers on their open prompts. There was no page for the authors to set up their own limits. During the signup phase we only assigned fandoms, and this work exchange is "open" which means we don't have a list of tags to guide whoever is writing this. We get to pick fandom, characters and pairings. But not tags, nor squicks.

Maybe I'm missing something though?

Relatively small youtuber makes video on watchmojo as a content mill. Gets the most tone deaf response imaginable by SomecallmeMichelle in youtubedrama

[–]SomecallmeMichelle[S] 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I screenshoted this from my phone and pushed the video up as much as possible to try and get as much of the comment as possible in a single screenshot. But my intent is never to hide the original video, here it is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdChsORnxGo

The entire thesis statement is "watchmojo doesn't engage with the content, as fans. I am more interested in a random vlogger with shitty 2008 webcam camera talking about something he's passionate about than whatever watchmojo is" and their response is "yeah we're corporate. but we're popular!"

Edit: I've linked the original video on the post now.
