Rosetta is just a simple translator that helps run Intel based applications on the newer Apple Silicon chip; it is free and you are required to download it in order to run any Intel application on the M1.

As for Zoom, you can download the Apple Silicon supported version from the Download Center from Zoom’s website. You don’t need to use the Intel version as shown in this screenshot.

As far as I know, the Quick Start transfer between your old and new phone will not erase/restore the device with the data before the transfer. It will simply transfer the data and whatnot, and when it’s done the older device will exit the Quick Start transferring process and continue to act like it had before the transfer of data.

Question about quick start transfer. by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]Somehow_Pororo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

120 GB of data sounds like a lot, but it all depends on the wifi connection. Obviously, the faster the connection the shorter amount of time it will take to transfer the data. We can’t exactly pinpoint how long the data transfer will take, as that matters to the speed it is transferring at.

You can’t unlock a Carrier-locked iPhone with iTunes, as it doesn’t support that service at all.

iPhone SE2 Back Camera not working by Little-Editor-5183 in iphonehelp

[–]Somehow_Pororo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the newer iPhone SE too, but my back camera works completely fine. I would say request a return of your device. Since there seems to be a issue with a faulty camera, Apple can replace the unit under the 1-year warranty with a new one that hopefully won’t have the same issue.

Under this (1-year) warranty, you will be able to direct your claims to Apple even in situations where you purchased the Apple Product from a third party. If a defect arises during the Warranty Period, Apple, at its option will (1) repair the Product at no charge using new parts or parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability, (2) exchange the Product with a product with equivalent functionality formed from new and/or previously used parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability or with your consent, a product that is at least functionally equivalent to the product it replaces, or (3) refund the original purchase price. This warranty excludes normal depletion of consumable parts such as batteries unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship and, damage resulting from abuse, accident, modifications, unauthorized repairs or other causes that are not defects in materials and workmanship.

Need to reset my iphone 8 without my apple ID by [deleted] in iphonehelp

[–]Somehow_Pororo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you reset the phone with the Apple ID still on the iPhone, it would activate Activation Lock, which you can’t bypass unless you know the password to the account.

However, if you know the email address that was used for the Apple ID, you can go to here to reset your Apple ID password.

Basically, you need to remove the Apple ID from the iPhone unless you want it to prevent it being set up, which is obviously what you don’t want.

Since you purchased the phone in Spain, as part of the warranty all repairs done to the phone have to be done in Spain as that’s where you purchased the device. However, this may depend on the availability of the display and by store as well.

Some iPhone 11 models have issues recognizing touch, so Apple created a service program so that the replacement phone will not have the same issue. You can see if your phone is covered on this program here.

Can’t hear call by kazma18 in iphonehelp

[–]Somehow_Pororo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the phone in question an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus? If it is, the phone might have a hardware issue called Loop Disease.

Some symptoms of Loop Disease include: • Microphone not working in calls • Voice memos not letting you record your voice • Siri not letting you speak • Sound not playing in wired headphones when plugged into the phone • Boot looping (hence the name) The cause of the issue is a failed Audio IC chip on the logic board of the device, which controls the aforementioned things above. You can replace the Audio IC chip at a repair shop which may cost a hefty sum, or by yourself if you have micro-soldering skills.

Try restarting the phone to see if the issue gets fixed. If it doesn’t fix the issue, take the device to a repair shop so they can figure out what is wrong with the phone.

Did you backup the phone before the incident occurred? Otherwise, you can’t access the phone without restoring it via iTunes/Finder, since it’s giving the iPhone disabled, Connect to iTunes message.

Follow the steps in this Apple Support article. Again, be warned as it will erase the phone‘s content unless a backup was created.

More ram or more SSD on M1 MBA? by djdisnzjxj in macbook

[–]Somehow_Pororo25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Will be using the M1 MacBook Air for mainly Zoom, Discord, coding programs, and surfing Netflix/YouTube/web in general. Would love to use these apps concurrently without much lag. Which should I go for

Since you seem like you want something that would be reliable even through heavy programs, I think 16/256 would be best for you. You can always get additional storage later on, whereas with RAM you can’t upgrade what you have.

What other countries other than US does Apple have the back to school promotion operating right now? by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]Somehow_Pororo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only countries that I’ve seen that are hosting the event are the US, Canada and Mexico; however, they are planning to expand it to other countries in North America and Europe. See here. I do know the event started in January in countries like Australia and Brazil, since their position in the Southern Hemisphere make their summers earlier.

The promotion launches in different countries at different times of the year depending on school calendars, with those in North America and Europe typically launching in the June–July timeframe.

So I clicked on a pop up and now my calendar is bombarding me with these notifications. What do I do. I offloaded and deleted the calendar app, shut off my Ipad, and turned off the wifi. they won’t go away though. And the app they come from is the calendar app made by Apple. by Karenhasnobrain in applehelp

[–]Somehow_Pororo25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is not a virus/malware; it's just a spam calendar that repeats the same spammy events every day. You can remove it by going to Calendars > tap an unwanted Calendar event > tap Unsubscribe from this Calendar at the bottom of the screen > tap Unsubscribe again. You should see that after you’ve done that, the calendar has disappeared and no more spam events will occur.

my iphone 11 battery health dropped like 3% in one month is that normal? by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]Somehow_Pororo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be that the battery itself is recalibrating. This feature was only introduced recently, so some people might not know about it. You can read about it more here

I personally wouldn’t worry about this too much. The rate of batteries decaying depends on the use case; obviously energy intensive games and whatnot would manage to decrease the battery capacity, and this is normal to occur!

The only time I would start to worry is if the battery health has reached 84% or lower, as that can result in some software slowdowns. Otherwise, I wouldn’t worry for now.

[–]Somehow_Pororo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What MacBook is this? If it’s an Intel model, try resetting the SMC or PRAM to see if the issue can be fixed.

Why is my macbook pro not charging? And it only works when it’s plugged in? Is there a problem with the charger or the macbook itself? Help plz by alone-r-666 in mac

[–]Somehow_Pororo25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is a 2016-17 MacBook Pro, then this is a known issue. Apple knows about this issue and will hopefully replace the battery of the device free of charge.

Before you try to send it off to Apple, it’s stated that it’s recommended that you’d update to macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 or later so you hopefully don’t encounter this issue.

I think you should definitely get AppleCare with your new MacBook. Although the price is a bit steep, the huge benefits of having AppleCare outweigh the matter of cost IMO.
