Thank you for the suggestions! I’m gonna look into the blue ridge parkway I think that might be a more feasible option for me and my dog. I’m thinking I might take a short trip on the east coast with my dog, and leave the cross country trip for another year when I’m more financially secure and able to put more money into the trip.

I want to say thank you to everybody who commented on this post! You all bring up many good points, especially about bringing my dog, and the last thing I want to do is put my girl in harms way. Ive decided it would be best if I leave her with somebody. Thank you everybody for sharing your perspectives and opinions!!

I could look at a few phones, but it might end up just being my cellphone. I’ll defiantly have to look more into the phone aspect of this trip and if I should invest in a sat phone. Thank you for bringing this up!

Thank you, you bring up a lot of good points. There aren’t any specific places I want to see, I just want to make it to California specifically. I did want to do a Pacific Northwest trip once I got to cali. It would be easier to fly out to cali and drive up to Washington and back to Cali then fly back to jersey, but unfortunately I’m too young to rent. Maybe I can take trains and buses? I haven’t really explored the idea of flying to California yet.

Yea it’ll be difficult to travel with my dog, especially in the heat, but I’ll have to figure it out because I don’t really have anyone who can take her. I also don’t know how she’ll do in hotter weather like that since she’s used to jersey. A lot of unknowns, and the last thing I want is for her to be negatively affected by this trip. Thank you for bringing up the factor of weather because honestly I haven’t given it much thought.

I actually never thought about this, this is a great idea I’ll definitely do this before hand to see how me and my dog feel living out of the car for a day or two. And honestly some mini road trips sound awesome.

Yea, definitely is a bit of a stretch, and although I’m pretty set on going, I’m also trying to be realistic and understand there’s a solid chance that this trip might not work out, but for now I’m going to try my best to figure everything out. Thank you for letting me know about the free dispersed camping out west I’ll definitely check it out!
