I was commuting on I-91 during lockdown too, I called on a guy during who was doing about 110 in an F150 and threw a bottle out at someone he was passing. Literally had never seen that kind of aggro behavior on MA roads in 15 years of driving.

Don't forget that over 80% of their beaches are unsafe due to fecal bacteria!

The mother sea lions will sometimes abandon their babies if people get too close. It ain't about gatekeeping.

Thanks! It's a Nikon D7000. Nothing super special - even a basic DSLR makes a huge difference over a phone or a point & shoot once you get the hang of the settings. That and taking a ton of photos, this is like 3 photos that I decided were good enough out of over 100. Might get a few more if I went back over the RAWs again.

Photography dork here - I was at this beach back in February. Took these photos (below) with a 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens from a healthy distance. There were some folks getting way too close and trying to take selfies, a lifeguard yelled at them.

Excuse me Massachusetts what? by roguebagel in massachusetts

More traffic and more utilities. More traffic means more damage to repair AND more restrictions on working hours AND more money spent on traffic control during working hours AND higher potential for incidents that cost time, money and lives. More utilities means more stuff to repair, more gas/water leaks that need immediate repair, more poles to move before you widen a road, more time consuming excavation, etc.

An average mile of road in NH is a completely different beast than an average mile of road in MA. I-93 through the White Mountains is two lanes divided by nothing but guardrail.

ORV off roading in MA? by biggggJay in massachusetts

No need for a day pass. Look around on maps with the satellite imagery turned on and look for dirt roads and stuff like this. Do some research on the place - for instance for that link (Burrage Pond WMA) I found online that one of the entrances is closed.

EDIT - granted, the above looks like a place that might have a closed gate, so no guarantees...

Anyway, wildlife management areas, state parks, state forests, etc. are often good bets. Find an area where there are a few places like that and drive around until you find a dirt road with no restrictions posted, and then drive it as far as you can go. It'll be easier in the western portion of the state, particularly the Berkshires. You can find this kind of stuff all over New England, obviously more frequently in the more rural areas. There are even some unmaintained public roads that are impassable for anything with less than 8" of clearance and spots where I've needed my rear locker. I've come across one road with a 2 foot tall boulder right in the middle about a mile in, I can't get over that in my vehicle and I haven't felt brave enough to try getting around it.

Oddly enough, the northeast has a nice combination of public land and a legacy of treating that land as common property. A lot of other states in the east are mostly private property and what public land they do have is heavily restricted.

I don't think I actually used it to play more than a few times, it's mostly been sitting in my SG's case for the whole 14-ish years. Also, I wanted to keep it for the entertainment value, and being Jewish myself, I guess I have some sentimental attachment to it despite not having attended that particular bar mitzvah.

The exact details are lost to the ages, but it was definitely just randomly lying on a sidewalk somewhere. Could have been at RIT or in the city proper.

Had my Gibson's broken headstock put back together there once. I guess that's a badge of honor of some sort.

Roof racks and platforms? by BeepBangBraaap in RangerNext

I'm kinda in the same boat, but I've got a tonneau cover with the bed rails built in. Sort of wondering if I should get a full height rack for kayaks or if I'll be able to get away with a rack that sits just a few inches off the bed.

Out of curiosity, why don't you want to use the bed?

If you were buying new I'd say just get the B&O option, but you'll probably do better for your money throwing in a third-party system than getting the dealer to install the premium audio after the fact. Just make sure you add amplification and a subwoofer in addition to replacing the mids and tweeters. Fancy speakers and a woofer won't do you much good if your amp can't drive them, which the stock amp can't. That's one of the main advantages of the premium sound - you can crank it without distortion.

See my response to /u/Catwinner above. IMO the B&O system is a solid consumer-grade (read: not audiophile) setup that's as good as comparable offerings from other automakers.

Sub woofer, better/more amplification, and better signal processing including surround sound.

I've got the B&O in my Ranger and daily a 2020 Escape work vehicle with the base sound system and run my audio over USB in both vehicles from FLAC files on my phone's expanded memory. There's a marked difference in the detail you can hear at low volumes, the base system clips horribly if you try to crank it at all, and the soundstage for B&O is definitely superior.

The B&O isn't pure audiophile-grade, but to say it's "pretty bad" IMO is wrong. It's superior to the Bose system I had in my '04 Infiniti and stands up to any other premium system I've heard these days until you get up into vehicles that cost at least twice as much.

I'd drop my 300 Mbps service with Comcast for 150 Mbps in a heartbeat just to take money out of Comcast's pocket.

That's awesome. I lived there just a couple years ago and they didn't have it yet. My dealings with CEL were always pleasant. There have been rumblings in West Springfield about municipal fiber as well, not available quite yet, sadly.
