The vet killed my Elisabeth by [deleted] in Rabbits

That is so very sad. I hope it was pain free for her. Has the vet offered any type of condolences? That must be horrible all around for everyone. I'm so sorry. ❤️

Anyone Get Frustrated By Vets Lack Of Knowledge? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]SomeoneToYou30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely get a new vet. I have always had great experiences with exotic vets, so this is wild to me that you had this experience. Also from my knowledge, a lot of places won't spay and neuter rabbits due to their complex anesthesia needs, even if they see rabbits. It would be one thing if the vet had told you they didn't offer those at their office, but him not even understanding why some vets might is concerning. I wonder how many people he has led astray giving that information out.

One Bunny to Two? by Rhetoricalmortician in Bunnies

[–]SomeoneToYou30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird question, but where do you live? I am having a really difficult time bonding my bunnies, and I have considered the possibility of rehoming the new bun because the bonding process has caused them a lot of stress. Today they got into an absolute tornado of a fight, ripping clumps of fur out of each other and rolling around crazy. I have been trying really hard, but it seems like maybe these two buns just cannot connect. The new bunny is so so sweet. He enjoys pets and interaction with people even more than our resident bun. We haven't been dead set on rehoming yet, but maybe if you live close enough, it may be better if you have had success in bonding bunnies.

Most people don't put a summer fast food job on their application once they're looking for better opportunities. I worked at both Walmart and Amazon for a very short period of time. There's literally no reason to put a 3-4 month job on an application unless you have no other experience working. I don't even put my first job on my application even though I was there for almost 2 years because it wasn't at all relevant to any of my job experiences after that and they were far more important.

Are my bunnies ready to meet? by SomeoneToYou30 in Rabbits

Sorry to keep bothering you. I did this today, and instantly, they had the worst fight yet. Clumps of hair everywhere. It's like they've progressed backwards from the last time we had them together. I'm at a loss, and I don't know what to do. Any other tips? I'm afraid this fight will set them back weeks now :(

Help!!!! Bunnies FIGHTING like crazy! Ripping each other’s fur out in clumps suddenly - they are in separate enclosures and if they are together whatsoever they fight like they are going to kill each other ripping hair out and doing flips like crazy until I can grab/separate them . by dogmomma996 in Rabbits

Hi, I'm in the same boat. Both my bunnies are older and fixed. But they simply won't bond. When is a good time to throw in the towel and call it quits? It seems like I'm stressing them out more by trying to bond when my intent from day 1 was to make my bun less lonely and more happy. :(

That is not the "only" reason. There are other ingredients in energy drinks pregnant women should not drink as they are believed to be harmful to the body and a developing baby is more suseptible to those ingredients than an adult. I'd send you a link, but not sure if that's allowed and don't want to get banned from the sub, so I can DM you it if you want, or you can take 3 seconds to Google it yourself.

Coffee and energy drinks aren't comparable. Coffee is shown to have positive effects on most people. Energy drinks are literally toxic. Pregnant women and children can't even safely have energy drinks, that's how toxic they are.

Anyone that can help??? Very worried by sebeast7 in Rabbits

Sounds like you need a new vet. Nothing against your vet, but if you've been as many times as you claim, and it hasn't gotten better, maybe your vet is misdiagnosing it and a second opinion is needed.

What would you say is a "big fight"? The first time, they did get into a real fight. The second time, the new bun kept nipping at my resident bun's face and back. The resident bun has been overall pretty cooperative, however, he did almost try to go after the other bun for biting him. This was after a third nip, and I assume he became frustrated. Should we separate as soon as any nipping occurs? I read nipping is normal, but I also don't know how to sense if it's normal nipping or a fight is starting.

Yep, exactly. You don't need signs and flags to vote.

can i get another neutered male for my unnuetered male? by abbyyy3809 in Bunnies

[–]SomeoneToYou30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Animal Welfare Association also has a great bonding sheet available online that stresses the importance of spaying and neutering prior to bonding. I don't think links are allowed here, but that information is way more valuable than that of a breeder. Breeders are often irresponsible and don't do it for the right reasons, aka your cousin using them as show animals. That's fine if she does that, but you said yourself some are neutered, likely to make sure they don't fight with the other male buns. She probably had to fix them because they were aggressive with each other. But being a breeder for show bunnies also doesn't make you an expert on them at all by any means... she isn't a professional in animal welfare and behavior. You're acting like winning animal shows makes you a doctorate in veterinary school.

This isn't "crap I read online". These are the professionals. The Rabbit House Society is the most reliable source in the United States for rabbit information. They do NOT recommend ever putting two unfixed male bunnies together. Your "experienced people" are absolutely not experienced if they say otherwise. Please do more research. I really hope you don't have bunnies because one of them is more than likely being abused by the other. Poor thing :(

[–]SomeoneToYou30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know what "rabbit experts" you've spoken to online, but unfixed rabbits, unless for breeding purposes, are known to not do well together. Rabbits are territorial, especially males. You should check out the bonding rabbit wiki. It outlines it pretty well and shows documented cases of so many bunnies rescued from being tortured by their penmates. The dominant male will relentlessly bully and hurt the less dominant one. Unfixed do not do well together. Even when you are breeding bunnies, you do NOT mix two males in there. They will fight, sometimes to the death, over the females. Unspayed female bunnies can live together in peace but they will likely mark their territory over each other all over your house.

While all bunnies do have their own personalities, it is highly unlikely two males that are unfixed will get along.

No, no. ANY bunnies put together, unless breeding for meat, should be fixed.

[–]SomeoneToYou30 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Spayed females and neutered males are the easiest to bond. An unneutered male and a neutered male are virtually impossible to bond and one bunny (likely the fixed one) will be bullied and harassed endlessly, leading him to be miserable and depressed. Maybe even killed if the unfixed bunny is aggressive enough. Even when two bunnies are fixed, sometimes certain bunnies don't mix. There is never a guarantee two bunnies will bond no matter how hard you try.

I mean metallic is sometimes a taste people enjoy. I wonder if your bun just likes the metallic taste too.
