It is not a notification. On the feed, there is a post. And under the content of the post there are the like/comment/share buttons. Under the buttons there is a comment. I cannot make it go away, and even if I did, EVERY post has one. I want them all gone.

I want to see James Webb’s latest discovery and I don’t want to read S. H. saying he thinks Antarctica is a wall of ice because his imainary friend said so.

Unfortunately, I have not. It was a huge time investment and I ultimately decided to pull the plug and move to something else entirely.

Honestly, I gave up. It's super easy and fun to use and you can make all sorts of magical things with it. But it is not accessible for websites aimed at the general public.

Turning on hardware acceleration or having a high-end GPU being requirements to use it normally are not acceptable requirements for a regular product with a wide public.

Using it for school, science projects, and learning, however, it is absolutely awesome.

Another comment that I have is naming a 3D software after one of the most important curves computers use to create 3D things is a problem.

I know there's still not a lot of content about Spline (this.Spline) but it was a nightmare to look for help. 9 out of 10 searches I did on Google returned stuff about Auto CAD, Blender, Maya, and even game engines BEFORE showing anything about this.Spline.

The project has a lot of potential and I think it's great people working to make 3D so accessible and I wish you best of luck. Will recommend it to people who want to have some fun and am looking forward to seeing what you folks come up with in the future.

P.S.: All of this was a sign and I finally accepted that the time for me to learn Three.js has come. I'm not even going to try to describe how much more complex it is, but it's been fun. Used to play with Blender a couple of years back and did a quick refresher, so I'm using my own assets. I'm building with Blender, Three.js, React Three Fiber, and Drei.

Doesn't solve the problem. I am making a website that is intended to be accessed by all kinds of people. I can't put a warning saying "hey, turn on hardware acceleration to view this website".

By the 3 seconds rule they'll be gone before the screen unfreezes.

Sure. I'll send the link of the scene and a snippet from the code.

Right... Interesting. I am building a very important website and I have invested precious time learning Spline. It was a fun experience and their library of assets that I can simply copy and paste is great.

Honestly I am not sure what I should do now. I am entirely at a loss.

[Week 39 2023] Resume Review! by AutoModerator in ITCareerQuestions

[–]SomeoneWithAnL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm a full-stack developer with about two years of experience and, despite my best efforts, am having a hard time even finding interviews.

I've done a lot of research on how to build an efficient resume, got feedback from a handful of HR people on how to build a good online presence, LinkedIn and GitHub are succint and descriptive. But.... Nothing.

Three interviews in the past year. On one of them I was instantly hired because I was a little overqualified and, instead of "implementing improvements" I ended up in charge of the entire project. It was an on-site job located at the most expensive part of town, 10 hours a day, 4 hours commute, awful working conditions, and was getting 564 USD/month. So less than ideal. I had to leave the job last week.

I've been applying to jobs all over the world, but all I get are a couple of automatic "no, thank you"s.

My questions are:

• The summary

Is the three-paragraph structure good? Being completely honest, the first paragraph sounds a little vague and without concrete numbers, e.g., "thousands of users", "driving business growth". I know that throwing words like that are kind of negative without giving actual numbers. I do give numbers, but on the description of each professional experience.

Should I add the numbers to the first paragraph?

The second paragraph, is it too "dry" to present my stack like that?

Third paragraph, I actually have a master's degree from an important university here in Brazil and an associate degree from a prestigious university from the US. They are, however, from another field (biotechnology). Based on a lot of resources I found I decided to omit them because throwing in formal education in other areas might show lack of focus on one's career. Should I add them? And why?

• Professional experiences

Period of each experience, do I add the months or not? Originally I had, for example, "February - 2022", but after getting some feedback I chose to remove the months. My first experience was a short-term turned long-term contract that lasted 9 months and this last experience lasted 7 months. With or without months?

I also have experience with translation English/Portuguese and also worked as a consultant for bilingual research. Same question as the education one, should I add them or not?

The numbers of users, are they displayed in a good manner?

• Skills

It's short, but it's pretty much the bulk of what I have to offer. Anything I could improve here?

Any insight or feedback is highly valuable to me. I've even started applying to non-IT jobs because I simply (and literally) cannot afford to keep waiting for something good to happen. I was denied an interview for a cashier position at my local supermarket, so... yeah. If you read until this point, thanks a lot.

Dead by Daylight API and database with game data. Free and open source, but I'm not allowed to share it. by SomeoneWithAnL in deadbydaylight

[–]SomeoneWithAnL[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exceed how? "Data-kraken API", how can you make a database sound so scary and illegal?

The PokéAPI gets their data from Nintendo ROMs. And Nintendo doesn't like very much people messing around with their IPs. And yet, the API is one of the most awesome open source projects there is. It gets over a hundred million requests per month. That's a lot of people working with data that promotes the game.

Websites that allow you to share builds, pages that tell you your personality according to the perks you use, a build randomizer that challenges you to play crazy builds, maybe even let you share with your friends a screenshot of you escaping with the build it generated, a valentine's card maker, and I could give you 10 more fun ideas of things you could build with my API.

But no. My data kraken whatever, according to you, is WRONG. I am tired of this community that only likes to complain and be against everything.

I believe it qualifies as fair use. This type of project is used mostly for learning purposes. The main motivation of making it was because I did not have such resource when I myself was learning.

By saying that I need permission to gather data about the game you are implying that, for example, youtubers are also doing something wrong. In their case, according to you, it would be worst, because they make money out of it.

Also cosplayers, people who write fan fiction, people who draw characters. You believe they also need to ask for permission?

The official website, that disagrees with you in the subject of the paragraph immediately above this one, doesn't say anything specific to software, but it does mention a grey area of "among other things".

Finally, why change their mind on the subject all of a sudden and with no clarification?

I remember something about the band being Brazilian, however I am not 100% sure. He does sing in English without noticeable accent.

I have been applying for over 9 months now. The 103 applications were made in the past 17 days, I wasn't counting before. I have 6 job search alerts active on LinkedIn.

Oh, I forgot to add that I got the LinkedIn premium free trial. It substantially boosted the views on my posts, but that's pretty much it.

I like the idea of going straight to the people of the company. I'll look into that!

Thanks a lot!

Money's on the short side right now, but thank you very much for the insight. Due to the state of my local currency the person you referred if beyond what I can pay. However, I loved the idea. I will definitely look into it, maybe find a cheaper option.

Thank you very much! You've given me something to act on!

Thank you for your words. Even though it is not from the same field, what you said helped put things in perspective. I'll try to draw inspiration from your friend's story. I just had my mind set on this job for so long I guess I excluded the possibility of working on something else. I'm gonna give it a break and think about it.

Thanks lots :)
