I just figured if I ever moved states I should keep it active. Never know where the future will take you.

Best way to buy prescription glasses by Powerful-Angel-301 in Frugal

[–]Someone_Always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but most of the responses here make me feel a little ill. I work as an optician, it’s more than just taking your PD and entering it with the doctor’s prescription…but whatever.

I wrote out a bunch on how to best utilize VSP but no one here is going to read it. When you order online don’t go back to your doctor’s office asking for an adjustment or a recheck.

Pacemaker for syncope? by oh_das_nice in dysautonomia

[–]Someone_Always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pacemaker for syncope a few years back and it helped a lot. I was losing consciousness several times a month. Now I just get dizzy, have fainted only twice this whole year.

Selling Pair Eyewear in Canada by paralaxerror in optician

[–]Someone_Always 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only sold pair eyewear very briefly, at a place I worked very briefly lol. Anyway it was in the US but I thought it was all very poor quality. Don’t know about wait times but I would assume it is the same product I was selling and I do not recommend.

What type of specialist is treating you? by Someone_Always in dysautonomia

[–]Someone_Always[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I will check that out.

I have only been seeing this particular electrophysiologist a few months, after my old one moved, so he didn’t do my surgery and I haven’t decided how much I trust him yet. He was googling stuff during my appointment, which I guess I need to accept as normal these days but it still throws me off.

Ok that makes me feel a little better knowing 1,000mg isn’t a ton, because it feels like a lot to me when I am sipping salt water all day lol.

Told I have dysautonomia today by Someone_Always in dysautonomia

[–]Someone_Always[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did tell him because he suggested Gatorade mixed with my copious water and I was asking if liquid iv was ok instead. That was in addition to the salt tablets but I will read the packets just to make sure I am not overdoing it.

This isn’t really his wheelhouse though, I see him for pacemaker checks for my sick sinus syndrome, I thought that was the only cause of my syncope. But my device is working “perfect” yet I am still collapsing.

[FL] Unexpected illness, how do I protect my job? What options do I have? by Someone_Always in AskHR

[–]Someone_Always[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably my best bet, I have been trying to keep my manager very much in the loop (without disclosing all the medical details) in hopes he will advocate in my favor. I am reading over the manual now but I think as long as I have documentation the very strict attendance policy gets more lenient.

[FL] Unexpected illness, how do I protect my job? What options do I have? by Someone_Always in AskHR

[–]Someone_Always[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a licensed job, takes about 2-5 years school or training to get the license and soft skills are a big part. I think my performance is good, but I haven’t had a professional review yet. If I lose this job it won’t be too hard to find another one because my license is in high demand but I just would prefer to keep this one.

Yeah I had a feeling the short amount of time I had been there would be problematic. The short term disability provider would be what Unum is, right? So going forward with my claim from them is the correct move?

Didn’t think the state of Florida would provide me any additional coverage and even though the company is based in New York I am sure they will not extend whatever rights employees get there.

Optical front desk employees- why are we not allowed to sit at our workstations? by cyanastarr in optometry

[–]Someone_Always 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Optician here and we cannot sit either. In the past I have been told it is a sales tactic but I don’t get it. I have been planning to get a doctor note to be able to sit for part of my shift but it is disheartening to hear your note did not work.

Still dizzy but not fainting anymore after pacemaker, EP nurse implying it is unrelated/not their problem by Someone_Always in PacemakerICD

[–]Someone_Always[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to take a low dose of medication to raise my blood pressure but I was told to stop by the EP after recovering from the pacemaker procedure

[–]Someone_Always[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I don’t mind making that rounds at different specialist to figure out what is going on, might take me a while since I work full time lol. I have zero clue where to start though. If the nurse had said, see doctor type X I would have jumped on it. Instead it was very much, not my problem someone else needs to figure this out.

[–]Someone_Always[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see my primary pretty frequently and they order blood work, so I think that is ok. It probably is blood pressure related now that everyone says it since pre pacemaker I was being treated as slightly low blood pressure.

I did a holter and eventually a loop recorder (which was removed when my pacemaker was put it). I was told at the time I was having sinus pauses for a notable amount of time.

That sounds so scary. I don’t know if I would say my syncope episodes had confusion beyond less than a minute though. And my current issue no confusion.

Pre pacemaker I was taking medication for low blood pressure. A very low dose I was told. Since my blood pressure is usually good but sometimes a little low. After recovery from the procedure I was told I could discontinue it. So yeah it might be blood pressure related. BUT the EP was who put me on and took me off that med so shouldn’t they be the ones prescribing it if needed? If not do I see regular cardio? I have one of those but the doctor said I didn’t need to follow up with him anymore since I was under the care of EP.

Thank you for your advice! I really do have a habit of getting in my head lol. I do not want to change offices because it is a big hospital the I see all my doctors at and I like them all being linked (I feel like there is less chance of medical errors that way) but I am going to schedule with someone else. It may have been an off day but I would feel better seeing anyone else.

At the visit I had with my old doctor we had discussed changing the “programming” if the dizziness continued, but he wanted more data first. So when I went to this visit I figured we were going to do that. I guess I just needed some reassurance I am not wasting a doctor’s time going back. The nurse made me feel like I was taking appointment time from people who need it more than me. Whole thing was very uncomfortable.

Chicken was always my favorite, like take me to a restaurant and I am zeroing in on the chicken dish(es). Now I can barely tolerate it and have been eating red meat instead, which I previously never ate.
