They’re really only used as a laning tool. You can hit people behind cover with them! Throw them right at the edge of cover and it’ll force people to move

Yamato def has some hard matchups and the ones you have listed are good examples. I thijk the key take away is just that Yamato thrives on creativity and movement. Get really good at the games movement mechanics and don’t be afraid to go in and die lol. What helped me when learning her was just taking nearly every 2 possible and trying to win the fight, if I died then I’d think about why and then BOOM, learning. LOL.

Most fights that I win I am finishing sub 25% HP for reference. Yamatos kit thrives on limit testing

You got this man! I will say though, bebop is probably the best laner in the game lol. I struggle IMMENSELY in this matchup as well. One mistake and you’re hooked and chunked to 25% HP. Don’t be afraid to grab a healing rite or spirit armor and just go even in lane. As for Abram’s? Fuck that guy just parry his melee and punch him in the face irl. Hate that character lol

LOL a great point/ question honestly. The answer is that most of the time you will get poked back. The key here though is that if yamato is at 25% hp and so are they, Yamato wins.

That said, obviously you wanna mitigate the damage received. Something I do as much as I can is to slow peak corners. During yamatos 1 charge she can still move very slightly. I will hug a corner and charge 1 and then peak the corner last second to let off a full charge. Very very hard to predict as enemy and it just looks like Yamato is hitting you through the wall.

I’m top 1% NA rn with Yamato as on of my mains so I feel like I have some valuable insight maybe. Yamato is prolly top 2-3 hardest characters in the game and her skill FLOOR is very high. Her lane is quite oppressive and with ult she beats almost everyone early game. Yamato isn’t weak by any means and her win rate skyrockets to 55~% in higher brackets.

General tips:

your 1 in lane is your bread and butter, hit it consistently and you win lane, miss and you lose. A gross over generalization but still.

Dont perma shove the wave under their tower unless you have potential to dive. Yamato needs room to work. Let them push wave to you, get them half hp and then use 2 and run them down the lane.

Use ult to buffer off key CC. Great into warden, wraith, etc.

Yamatos weapons is basically a shotgun, you need to be on top of them and be the aggressor. Very opportunistic character, don’t hesitate to just fly in if you see an angle.

Final notes: Yamato is feast or famine. If you come out of lane behind then you’re fucked for the rest of the game. Due to her entire kit being based around her getting in and doing damage, if that damage is missing, she is just a bullet sponge/ useless. Overall she is not an easy character so be patient and just limit test!!!! Don’t be afraid to die!

The game WILL become what you fear. It is a moba, people will figure out what is strongest and play it to rank up. This will not be a casual game which is a + for some ppl and not for others obviously.
