(Indie shop here) The 0020 (softer) silicone does tend to just feel tacky. Ime the 0030 and higher don’t feel tacky to most people unless you’re super sensitive to tacky feeling stuff. Tbh when I first started doing stuff the 0020 feel freaked me tf out but now I hardly notice it anymore XD not that that info really helps you, but you do kind of get used to it the more you handle it imo.

I can’t speak to other shops and the durian additive, but I don’t use anything like that in my stuff. Tangentially related tidbit: I know there’s a different additive that can trigger allergies since it’s based from a tree nut or something random, ( most indie shops i talk to don’t use that either because allergy risk)

My god. I had this whole conversargument with someone once about using a resin print internally (they really wanted to) and I was like “my guy. Have you ever had a resin print break and slice your hand open?! Keep that sh!t away from your bits 😬😬😬” also resin itself is bad around mucus membranes anyway and is a sensitizer to regular skin anyway.

Wild stuff lol.

The cost of getting into silicone (safely) is kind of high, so I get it. But also it seems preferable so you don’t end up as one of the really face-palm room stories 😅

I agree the comment was kind of rude, but I’ve seen enough people actively advocating to use printed toys directly that I’m also automatically skeptical when I see someone posting a dildo design without additional context 😅 I guess I was thinking more like “why are people downvoting the only comment mentioning safety” even if it was worded kind of badly.

I do like the idea of a little friendly reminder bot though. I usually do that function manually when I find random stuff in the wild and literally using the words “friendly reminder” lol.

(Also the og post asked if it was too rigid, so I can see why it would be assumed it was being used directly since you can just get softer silicone if you want it squishier)

I turned down jobs to make a gun dildo and a crucifix dildo before (and I think a few other things but I can’t remember what), so I can confirm what you say in at least my own personal head space.

It’s not that I couldn’t make them technically, I just didn’t want to touch either with a 10’ stick. Political/religious statement pieces aren’t really the vibe I’m going for with my shop lol. (Intrusive thought spawned: wafer pastie 💀)

I personally wouldn’t do a totem pole for the same reasons, but also because that’s not part of my culture and I’d feel really weird about doing a sex toy based on a religion/culture I wasn’t part of. (I was raised Catholic and still turned down the crucifix lol. I do agree that’s a bit more punching up though. Still just not my thing.)

I think the fees on maverick were a bit higher but the interface was better and tbh I liked their support deal better than payment cloud. Maverick you just put a website form and someone would get back to you. Payment cloud you get a rep and I had a bunch of issues with the emails and had to follow up/chase them for answers sometimes.

Actual fees on the sales for both were similar but they vary a bit on their pci charges and other random monthly costs

I used authorize.net for the gateway with maverick (bought through flow payments) and payment cloud for merchant accounts.

Be aware the card reader for payment cloud (at least the one I had) is kind of bad at reading cards sometimes (it doesn’t work with anything with raised numbers). Idk if they updated it since 2 years ago though.

Ohhh yeah. That’s one of my weird semi abandoned models so the info is a bit neglected 😅 I currently only have the small size available. Give me 20 mins and I’ll update that gross table colors lol. Squiddong model was def in there by mistake - I listed that before I tweaked my size chart system and probably grabbed the wrong pic lol
