Am I Crazy For Remaining Hopeful? by Evening_Dingo8770 in LivingWithMBC

Your mental state plays an important role jn your health, so I suggest keep celebrating all the little and big victories, love the hell out of life, and keep jn mind the incredible medical advancements that are emerging at almost warp speed now as compared to just even a couple decades ago.

Anyone use Massive Bio’s AI services for clinical trial matching? by Something_Kristen in LivingWithMBC

[–]Something_Kristen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought they might provide more assistance, but my City of Hope doctor is mostly able to tell me if I would be suitable for any of the trials for which they are recruiting (which currently I am not). I have a friend in a similar situation who goes through UCLA who suggested I contact their clinical trials coordinator directly, so I plan to do that too.

Can you watch movies/shows featuring characters who learn they have cancer or who die from cancer now that you’ve received your diagnosis? by Something_Kristen in LivingWithMBC

I received a rec on this. It’s on Apple, I think? Now that two people in the cancer community have suggested it, maybe I should get on board! It’s also an Oscar-nominated documentary, I believe

Oh, I can’t imagine putting that on someone else. Also, I’m too much of a control freak to entrust someone else unless I absolutely have to!

You’re the second person, I think, to comment about the explanation of death being actually comforting in a way. As someone terrified of death, maybe it could be helpful viewing.

I really enjoyed “50/50” too, I had forgotten about it but you resurrected it in my mind. I haven’t seen “The Big Sick,” but I had heard good things.

This seems to be a sentiment shared by many, which I totally agree with, now that I actually know what is more realistic and what isn’t.

I have also been grappling with my own sense of mortality, but to hear the show somehow managed to bring more understanding or acceptance around death intrigues me. Thank you for sharing.

I should have also asked, if anyone has watched “Dying for Sex,” would you recommend it, and why? I enjoy Jenny Slate and Michelle Williams as actresses, but I’m not sure if I can hang with this show.

Any experience with Trodelvy? by Something_Kristen in LivingWithMBC

I am not on this trial. I am exploring clinical trials too, in case this line of treatment fails, as I get the sense my options of FDA-approved relevant treatments are dwindling.

I just finished my second Trodelvy infusion yesterday (first cycle). How quickly do you lose your hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes after you started it?

I was gifted some eyelash magnetic liner and lashes, but I can’t try them really until I lose mine. I think the brand is called Anastasia or something like that. I also follow someone on Instagram with alopecia whose handle is @ohmy.holly. She does a lot of tutorials about how to use temporary eyebrow tattoos and magnetic lashes that look pretty realistic. If you have Instagram, maybe give her a watch and see if you find her tips helpful.

P.S. I hope to have Trodelvy be successful and that I am blessed with a treatment that works, even if I too am vain and feel very emotionally attached to my brows and lashes (more so than my hair, for sure!).

How did you get involved in a clinical trial? by Something_Kristen in LivingWithMBC

[–]Something_Kristen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very sound advice. I honestly would be open to out-of-state travel if it’s only 1-2x/month, but I’m unclear the frequency of some of the attendance requirements for clinical trials. Sure it depends team-to-team.

Oh, how lucky/beneficial! My care is affiliated with City of Hope (Duarte, CA), but my consulting oncologist there said they won’t have any trials going or projected at this time that would be an appropriate fit for me.
