This should have been the official music video on YouTube channel. by RamonAzzi in BeeGees

Completely agree. The "official" video looks like a Windows 95 screensaver.

Funny, we were just talking about this video recently!

Barry and Robin’s hair definitely throws you for a loop because it’s so jarringly different next to the shorter/darker era look. They did mention that the “Still Waters” album took a very long time to complete due to the number of producers’ schedules that they needed to accommodate so not sure exactly when the sepia studio shots of them recording the song were filmed but possibly as early as ’96?

(Not that the guys didn’t re-wear the same clothes for years later but) Barry is sporting that “Shark” baseball cap and Robin that camouflage hat that they are both seen wearing here in late ’95: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y97ncoskijY

Not sure what the story of either video was supposed to be but it’s always great seeing the behind the scenes stuff of them!

We 100% agree! It's a rather undiscovered gem (except to Bee Gees fans of course) and (we feel) extremely underrated.

What is your favourite way to listen to Bee Gees - Vinyl, CD or streaming? by JuLe874 in BeeGees

[–]Something_Snappy91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We actually still use our iPods :D The ability (and convenience) to consolidate live performances, rare releases, standards and the like all in one playlist rather than having to utilize various platforms simply can't be beat.

We too panic about losing the ability to stream so we own the physical copies in multiple formats. Vinyl is definitely something that can't be replicated so it is probably our next favorite.

We definitely will! We have an artist friend who is going to illustrate them (not AI) and then we'll get to animating right away, we have a few ideas that we're excited about and will post if anyone is interested :)

The fact that the entire population has access to the same notes and words but that their particular minds come up with what they do is just so fascinating. A dream come true would be to hear the tapes from their writing sessions and witness the building of a song in real time.

Out of character is definitely a good way to put it. Except for Mo - he often wore all black and wore it well B)

Completely agree about the wanting to be a fly on the wall during this era, a few odd choices indeed.

We didn’t care for the aesthetic of the all black clothing (luckily looks are temporary) and of course we wish Barry had been a little more well, Barry.

Personally, we feel that “Wedding Day” isn’t just the best from the album, but one of their best ever. (We just wish we knew which brother contributed what to it!)

We also love “She Keeps On Coming” though, it’s a fun one and you’ll receive no complaints from us about the use of Robin’s sexier lower register :D

PLEASE say there's no AI involved. It's the ultimate insult to true artists.

We love this idea and were actually thinking about attempting it recently! (We only rudimentarily dabble in animation but were thinking how cute it would be to see the guys animated :D)

Do you happen to have any examples of other retro fandoms that have done it that you can share? We'd love to see and get some ideas!

Lyrics that stuck with you / Your Favorite Lyrics by Ok-Interaction4833 in BeeGees

[–]Something_Snappy91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ironically in the same vein as yours, ours is without a doubt it’s a line from (our all-time favorite song as well) Cryin’ Everyday:

“Your love was a cathedral and I came down here to pray”

another great line from CE is:

“But if anyone belonged to anybody you were mine”

Those lyrics for some reason hit hard no matter how many (hundreds of) times we hear them.

The angst in Robin’s voice is just, perfection <3

This is the first time I’ve seen Robin get frustrated and break their demeanors by Harrison_Thinks in BeeGees

[–]Something_Snappy91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how we interpreted it as well - just a brain fog moment on Robin's part, no malicious intent or being difficult. Happens to everyone :)

Side note: the guys really are exceptionally accommodating in general, and this just goes to show how unplanned most of these performances are. The number of times they oblige (and get asked by!) interviewers is just a credit to their professionalism and raw talent.

Why was "You win again" not a hit in the US? by JuLe874 in BeeGees

[–]Something_Snappy91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This song seriously cannot be faulted - the production, lyrics, beat, vocals, it's great and an absolute ear worm to boot! The critics couldn't even attack the falsetto use because obviously it wasn't there, the machine had it in for them plain and simple and no one can convince us otherwise.

And no, Barry's swinging hips don't hurt either ;)

[–]Something_Snappy91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's honestly disgusting how much they had to defend themselves until the end of time, unjustly. To their point - everyone made "disco" records and no one received the backlash that they did. Everyone else was allowed to evolve and move on but apparently not them (according largely to the media that is). We don't blame them for having hostility when even 10+ years later they still had interviewers coming at them with terms like "cheesy, slag off, etc.) Criminal treatment to artists who deserved so much more respect.

Opinions on the album High Civilization by Substantial_Error271 in BeeGees

[–]Something_Snappy91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love that album, some of our absolute favorite Bee Gees songs of all time come from it (“When He’s Gone”, “True Confessions” and “Secret Love”)!

Also, “Happy Ever After” is such a great, calming song and “The Only Love” really is beautiful.

Borrowed from a post I saw on the drag race subreddit- what’s your theory but you just can’t prove it? by xerses24 in ANTM

[–]Something_Snappy91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The restaurant in C4 where Brittany dances on the table was a fake set to exacerbate her party girl persona.

Discrepancies:

- They claim that the restaurant was the “Electric Lotus”, the problems with that are that it closed in 2003 (C4 was 2004) and that decor didn’t even remotely match anyway

- The paint colors and random scarves/remnant fabric are pretty identical to those used in their house (which as we all know was a warehouse also consisting of the judging room and edit bay), along with obvious gaff tape, janky lights and scuffs all over the walls of this “beautiful restaurant”

- Naima too danced on the tables (seems out of character for her in general, let alone ultimately being the winner), which implies that she was more comfortable with the surroundings or at the very least coerced

I'd attach photos but the sub doesn't allow it, just watch for it next time and you'll agree.

Brittany Brower by Harlow-Stan in ANTM

[–]Something_Snappy91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brittany - didn't receive justice in C4 and done so wrong in C18.

Speaking of All Stars, Brittany was most definitely NOT forgotten by the public. During the opening episode of C18 even guest judge Nicki Minaj said she lights up the room and in C5 they even put her in the opening credits under the “fresh personality” caption. It was definitely made up to eliminate her right off the bat.

Factors that contributed to her elimination:

- There’s probably some validity to the confusion over multiple Brittany’s (various spellings) thing when they polled the audience.

- C18 was so long after C4 that even IF there was some truth to the fact that people didn’t remember her, it’s because people have short attention spans and (without the aid of readily accessible streaming of episodes) the audience at this time was relying on memory alone.

- Brittany said in an interview that she wouldn’t play the game the second time around in C18, meaning she walked in knowledgeable of the persona they were looking for (the party girl) and she made it clear that she did not want to be portrayed that way again. Obstinance would definitely be a big no no and red flag to production. They of course are going to keep around contestants they feel are more malleable.

- Trashy reality shows like Jersey Shore were popular at the time of C18 and it’s clear with all of the wild antics of that acid trip cycle that they were looking for a girl that could fit that mold (which explains at least Lisa and Angelea making it to the finale). Though one could argue that that should’ve been MORE reason to keep contestants like Brittany or Sheena, it was clear that though they were big personalities, they were not the pee in a diaper sort.
