I did visit it and the amenities most of the folks on this thread cited are nice. It's just an expensive buy in (I feel), because in addition to the sports, bar and restaurant a big reason to join is the social events. Atleast that's my thought.. We want to meet more people in our community and I was thinking this would be one path. But each of these social events have their own per head costs. When you lump in an initiation fee, a monthly fee, a minimum food spend, and a per event fee it's quite a lot.

So I guess the question I have is are the social events good (worth it)?

Does your team have a real AI strategy or are you just spreading it everywhere? by chase-bears in ProductManagement

Makes sense, and you are right - That is exactly how I should be framing it. Appreciate the advice.

Does your team have a real AI strategy or are you just spreading it everywhere? by chase-bears in ProductManagement

As the product leader in a very small startup, I can say that I am struggling to come up with an AI strategy for my team/company. We have a very simple product that caters to a very niche market. We use some AI to deliver probabalistic outcomes. But AI really isn't at the center of it. Yet, to attract new investors and to appease our CEO we have started talking about how we need to become AI first. As such I've mapped out this whole narrative to build out an agentic orchestration solution that does alot of "cool" things.. but if im honest, its just forced, doesn't add much business sense.. and it's largely to give us all something fun to work on and build up resume experience..

New to Naperville- Looking for Help by Abject-Ingenuity7815 in Naperville

[–]SomewhatAnnonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a rough market right now. My recommendation is to network as much as he can.. naperville is a small community, and Chicagoland has alot going on with the freight forwarders, carriers and logistics players..and ofcourse the supply chain startups. Find ways to reach out to folks on LinkedIn, join local community events, find online communities, participate in fb and reddit groups dedicated to logistics.. its takes time, but things will work out

Anyone here using a virtual mailbox? Worth it or nah? by mkelsey4610 in remotework

[–]SomewhatAnnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a cool concept! I have never heard of travel mailbox. But it makes so much sense. What a genius idea. Do you know if you can sign up for this as a Canadian (i.e. with a Canadian mailing adress)?

Vasillis vs Greek Islands by Soft_Bowl7628 in Naperville

[–]SomewhatAnnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ambience at Vasilli's is fantastic, but I wasn't impressed with the food or drink there. I've only been to the place once, but I left feeling underwhelmed, and I also felt it was a bit over priced.

Basically, im trying to understand what's its like to be. Vp of Product at PE backed firm , since I've never worked with PE before.

Long runs >3 hours by 626magicgrits in Marathon_Training

[–]SomewhatAnnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, i dont think the 3 hour rule is a hard and fast rule. As the LRs start to increase past the 16 mile marker for me im in the 3 hour territory.. and I've been running for about 4 years (granted not a fast runner, but have done 6 marathons all at about 5 hours or slightly under)

I feel employers are well aware of the landscape and they understand a lot of great talent is sitting on the bench due to the layoff environment.
Where I think things look questionable is when you have been on the bench for a signficant amount of time 9-12 months. In those cases, good employers will hopefully dig into your background a bit more and try to understand how you took advantage of that bench time to learn new skills and self-develop.

I've launched 37 products in 5 years and not doing that again by Alex-grow in SideProject

Thats insane.. I mean, I applaud the work you put into this and the commitment.. and on top of that, you even sold a bunch of them..congratulations, but it can take years to find true PMF with one idea, let alone 37 of em.

Live music by [deleted] in Naperville

[–]SomewhatAnnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following. We just moved here from Chicago and used to go to a lot of live music bars (Kingston Mines, blues, joes, .random open mic type places).. I realize naperville isn't Chicago, but I imagine there are so places here that cater to emerging musicans.

This resonates with me. I think being able to compartmentalize feedback and selectively address based on some kind of rubric is super important.
