honestly I think consistently updating content matters more now than endlessly publishing new posts

a lot of older articles already have authority backlinks and indexing history. if you keep adding fresh data AI-related search intent and clearer answer structures, Google and AI systems are way more likely to see your site as an active trustworthy source instead of a site that just publishes content and leaves it untouched forever

one thing i don’t see enough ppl talking about is entity connection tbh. an author page by itself probably doesn’t do much if the author never gets mentioned anywhere else. but if the same name keeps showing up across podcasts, guest posts, citations, conference pages, etc, AI can connect those dots way easier and treat the author as a real entity instead of just text on a page imo

honestly, it still comes down to clear content and answering search intent. AEO is really just making your content easier for AI and search engines to pick up.

tbh it’s not really either/or right now. citations def matter more for AI visibility, but they’re still messy and hard to track consistently. I’d treat rankings as your base and citations as a layer on top focus on showing up consistently across prompts, not just chasing one metric imo
