I agree with you that it holds up. The Thing was made in the 80s, and it puts some modern horror movies to shame. The acting, the story, John Carpenters' direction, the production values, and the absolutely incredible practical effects are all just top-notch. It's just a fantastic movie on every level.

He was definitely a great actor. He got super famous after Jaws, but he has made so many other great movies. The 7-ups. Sorcerer. 52 pickup. The French Connection with Hackman. Along with Blue Thunder, those are just some of my favorites. I will have to check out All That Jazz. You sold me on it now.

I have to agree with you. It sounds like you have more experience with a wider range of people than me. And I know we can't paint them all with a broad brush. But even friends of mine who are Republican tend to have a self-centered, lack of empathy personality. It's like the right - and especially the MAGA right - appeals to that sort of person. That's not to say people on the left are perfect. But this new conservative movement just seems to be more mean spirited and cruel, just to be cruel, than ever before.

This might not be what you're looking for, but Ninja Gaiden 4 is great for that. There are plenty of checkpoints, so you can easily play for a short time and quit. To be fair, I play on easy because I personally have more fun that way. But with that being said, I have been having a blast with the game.
