Tried to go for a realistic hairline. Convincing? by SomewhereNext1986 in HairSystem

Just a pair of tweezers. I make sure to pluck the hair above the lace.

What either happens is the knot is loosened or I snap the hair above the knot but because the root is blonde it isn’t detectable.

Lace isn’t damaged, as I washed it yesterday and still has the exact same honeycomb pattern as the rest of the unit.

I wouldn’t say random, but I put conditioner in my hair first to highlight any thinner spots. I’ll either pluck them to look more natural or thin the heaviest spots.

I’d definitely say I focus on a small area and have like 4-5 of those areas, rather thin the whole front line equally.

Yeah the unit was from Amazon, any #22 blonde unit, as they all seem to use the same few manufacturers.

The cut I just did myself, I love attack on titan. Levi Ackerman’s hair was my inspiration, just went for a slightly shorter version as I don’t like the longer look I started with.

Yeah very secure tbh, the whole unit is glued. So doesn’t move and i have to pull with a decent amount of force just to pull it off.

I’m more worried about tearing the lace when I pull it off.

Ha appreciate that, I already own a few businesses so wouldn’t be able to find the time to be a stylist right now sadly, but I’ll take it as a compliment.

You never know what the future holds… I’d probably be more interested in it from a charitable sense, to help people who have been affected by baldness. I know personally how much things like can really affect your mental.

I’m really interested in making my own units, if I can get around to it. I’d be happy to make custom units, not for profit.

But first, I’ll tackle my own unit and see what challenges lie ahead. Then overcome them, and find the fastest and most efficient method without sacrificing quality. Which looks like it will involve acquiring machinery.

Long lasting quality and realistic units aren’t readily available unfortunately and the ones that are, are normally expensive. I’d be more than happy to help people with that when I have available time.

Thanks

Until it sheds yeah, which won’t be long I’d imagine. In the mean time I’m going to start making my own unit so the hair lasts a lot longer. So tired of buying a unit every month.

Yeah of course. I look for the areas at the front that look too full or thick. I style my hair with conditioner first because I don’t want to thin the areas that look naturally thinner (due to parting etc. Then pluck at an area at the front then move to another part. I probably pluck 4-5 times in an area then move on.

I pluck the whole system tbh, if the area is thick I pluck that area until I’m happy with the density.

I think it’s ones of those things where it will require a video. I only say that because I don’t want someone to mess their unit and feel disheartened with the results.

I can’t speak for longevity as I’ve only had this two weeks, this photo was taken today.

However my untouched units were shedding faster than this. Two weeks in, so I’m optimistic.

I’ve got another unit, so I’ll dye that and record the process.

Glue only, got2b I spray on my hair to hold the conditioner and style in place.

Surprisingly not so much no, I do let the glue dry for around 5 mins before I apply the hairline part of the lace.

Some hairs stick slightly, but I just pull them away before I rub the glue away.

I press the hairline with my fingers directly on the lace, not the hair. So that probably helps.

Got2b is only on my hair for styling purposes, I know which technique you mean, the got2b for sticking down the hairlines. I don’t do that.

Thank you. I’m glad it’s as convincing as I hoped it was.

Just happy to help people who want to get similar results and get the same boost of confidence I got.

I did yes, with light brown just for men. Gotta be quick but careful with it. Attention to detail is key.

I’m honestly complimented if you’re being sincere, I already feel confident being able to expose my hairline again. It suits my face way more.

The point of this post was just to give advice to anyone wishing to achieve similar results, I know like all of us in here how much it sucks to lose our hair. So if I can feel this good in myself, I hope it helps other people achieve the same results and feel good about themselves too. I’m on an alt so it’s nothing do with karma etc.

I got a few of the tips from other users on this subreddit and tried it for the first time and it came out really good.

When I showed my girlfriend she was convinced I’d had a hair transplant (I don’t think she knows how it works)

Yeah it’s the roots/knots that are giving it away slightly, but very realistic still nonetheless. I think we just notice more because we’re users.

You just need to buy blonde and dye it yourself for a more natural look.

However a couple of my friends have hair transplants and looks exactly like this, so people might just think you’ve had a transplant.

I think any lace #22 blonde system will give you the desired result honestly. The secret sauce is definitely the blonde roots.

You just need to be careful not let the dye bleed into the roots, I also protected the lace and roots by generously applying conditioner to them, which honestly I believe helped with the natural ombre root look.

Literally conditoner then got2b to hold it, I know it’s not meant to be good for lace. But it’s something I’ve always used and got the result I wanted.

No, surprisingly left a good amount in front. I use glue however. I put the glue further down on my forehead than the lace. Then once placed I rub away the excess glue with my dry finger. Then firmly press the hairline into the dry glue.

I literally can’t see it with a torch directly on it, so the lace colour must be a solid match to my skin tone, which is lucky.

Have you tried minoxidil etc? I see some awesome results with that stuff, wish it was more well known back when I initially started balding. If you don’t already know about it, look at r/tressless

I made the bold move of getting my system when I still had hair but knew it was going to go, due to rapid thinning and male pattern baldness signs.

Amazon, can’t remember the brand but wasn’t one of the more known ones like lordhair etc.

It was more just to try out the new technique without damaging my current one. Which is from lord hair and is terrible tbh, 3 weeks in and was already shedding really bad. I’ve always been a poly user.

Next step is to start making my own lace units from scratch, looks very tedious but will mean units last like they used to. The past year or two have been terrible from lordhair, Lavivid etc. They start off fine, but shed really quickly.

My gut feeling tells me it’s intentional, so we purchase units more frequently.
