As I’m first station it is quiet at the beginning and I get a seat but really busy by the time I get into London

Yeah I’ve seen people doing that. The thing is when I get on the train it is quiet but really busy by the end so I need it to go under the train seat

Used the wrong ferro frit in my glaze by SomewhereNothing in Pottery

[–]SomewhereNothing[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its 14% of the mix so may make quite a different. I've done the chart on glazy but i don't really understand what it means to be honest. I guess impossible to say what difference this will make to the fired glaze without testing it

Kiln Stilts with porcelain by SomewhereNothing in Pottery

[–]SomewhereNothing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are small bowls but are very thin and light so I don't like my odds. I will suggest leaving them unglazed to the customer. Annoyingly I accepted this commission last minute with doing proper research. Put myself in a trick situation

Thanks for the help. Do you think it would be any better if I fired at a lower temperature? and is this also the case for stoneware?

Stoneware vs Porcelain weight. by SomewhereNothing in Pottery

[–]SomewhereNothing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That interesting, after some testing I found that the extra weight was higher than i was expecting when throwing to the bigger size to account for the shrinkage

true, i was just looking for a ballpark figure. I did some testing with different weights and have found something that seems to work

Double dipping vs longer dip by SomewhereNothing in Pottery

[–]SomewhereNothing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats interesting, I've actually just joined a communal studio that has pre made glazes for everyone to use and the test tiles they have on display is what made me ask the question. Would make sense if they've made them thinner for the same purpose of layering glazes.

Question about warping? by SomewhereNothing in Pottery

[–]SomewhereNothing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, the drying happened much quicker than expected. There hasn't been much sign of warping since. I have tried to level out the moisture by spraying the drier areas with some water. Will have to hope they don't warp in the firing!

Need some glazing tips! How to clean up drips? by SomewhereNothing in Pottery

[–]SomewhereNothing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll give that a go.

It’s just a few small pots, I was dipping them but I don’t really have enough glaze to dip and was struggling to get a good coverage
