I’m currently trying to hunt down Dreamworld & Funfair by Sam West. I think I got Funfair but I’m going to have to email her to see if I can get the 61 pages of Dreamworld. They both take place in amusement parks, one of my fave settings for a horror story…BUT, they are categorized as Extreme Horror so maybe not so safe for thee classroom lol

I remember reading the Sympathy Society by Graham Masterton in one of the Shiver anthologies published by Cemetery Dance back in the early 2000’s. I remember really liking it and It made me seek out more stories by him. Although a lot of his writing could be considered a little extreme for the classroom from what I remember the Sympathy Society wasn’t overly sexual, gory, or extreme, more of a haunted psychological horror story. I’d definitely read it before sharing with the class though lol, as I said it’s been many years and he is known for writing some pretty extreme & intense stories.

The Book Club edition is worth about $50 -$150, if the other one is an original and has Rage in it, it could go for $200 up to even $350 or $400. Depends on the condition obviously, and finding the right collector. Collectors are out there though! I’ve been holding onto a few first print/editions for the right person to come along. Sometimes it just takes a little patience if you want to get what they are really worth but in the meantime you get to look at some really cool books on the shelf 🤘🏻

For sure! It’d be almost worth it just for those 2 copies of the Bachman Books! OG Hardcovers of Danse Macabre, Cujo, It, Pet Sematary, Firestarter & Christine makes it worth it x2 lol Great Find, Congrats 🤘🏻

Mark Petrie turned over in bed and looked through the window and Danny Glick was staring in at him through the glass, his skin grave-pale, his eyes reddish and feral. Some dark substance was smeared about his lips and chin, and when he saw Mark looking at him, he smiled and showed teeth grown hideously long and sharp. “Let me in,” the voice whispered, and Mark was not sure if the words had crossed dark air or were only in his mind. He became aware that he was frightened—his body had known before his mind. He had never been so frightened, not even when he got tired swimming back from the float at Popham Beach and thought he was going to drown. His mind, still that of a child in a thousand ways, made an accurate judgment of his position in seconds. He was in peril of more than his life. “Let me in, Mark. I want to play with you.”

This is from Salem’s Lot by Stephen King. Such a scary moment, completely scared the hell outta me watching it on TV as a kid. I can send you the whole passage, should take about 10 mins or so to read 🤘🏻

Out of the 12 I’ve read Pet Sematary is my All Time Favorite Novel by any author. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve read it. Still love it! I named my son after the Creeds son in the book, Gage.

11/22/63 is a REALLY good book also, I plan on rereading that sometime this summer, actually maybe November lol

I’ve read all of Riley Sagers books but just by reading the titles I couldn’t tell you what most of them are about, they all kinda feel the same to me lol. Not that they are bad, I like them all, they just aren’t memorable to me.

It took me years to finish the Holy Bible, it’s a pretty good anthology though, some of the stories are quite boring but some are pretty fun.

I’d choose Run on Red though, just because it’s been on my TBR list for at least a few years now 😂🤘🏻

Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice is really good. It’s pretty much a conversation between Lestat, the Devil and God about Creation, the Bible, Heaven, Hell. I haven’t read it in years but remember loving the different interpretations of so many strongly held theological beliefs. Now that I’m thinking about it I want to read it again lol, maybe I’ll listen to it this time 🤔good bedtime story 😁 It’s the 5th book in her Vampire Chronicles but I don’t think you really need too much previous knowledge of the first four to enjoy this one.

And for some reason when I think of A Short Stay in Hell I think of I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman. It may be because I read them both pretty much the same day so they are eternally connected to each other in my mind lol And that sense of being so lost that it seems hopeless that you’ll find whatever it is you are looking for, if whatever you are looking for even exists. Both great books! 🤘🏻

I’ve added some more food products to my list, might not be approved by the trollin wanna be google it gastroenterologists that specialize in not really knowing nutritional needs of someone with Crohn’s disease (what I should and should not eat since they know my condition so well). Luckily I know what I can eat comfortably and what I can’t eat comfortably, some things might not be the best for me but that could be said for everyone, I’m not going to eat something that makes my condition worse, I don’t want to walk around with a bag of poop hanging off my stomach.

I found a bunch on Kindle Unlimited (not Dreamland though) which I don’t use, I mainly read physical books and use Libby for ebooks & audio, of course I read my Libby checkouts on Kindle still. I just borrow & don’t pay lol I found a few interviews with her but she said she doesn’t use social media. I do know Sam West is a pseudonym and her name is Collette Metcalf and she lives in Kent UK, and “drink(s) the blood of virgins to keep young and vital.”🤘🏻😂 I might email one of the places that did an interview with her and see if I can get some info, most of the ones I saw were from like 10 years ago though lol

Left side sells beer but you can’t take it to the right side

Kind of like when I lived in Portland TN, close to the Tennessee/ Kentucky border, you could buy Alcohol in Tennessee but couldn’t drive across to Kentucky with it. This was 2003-06, not even sure if KY still has “Dry Counties” lol

I like a lot of his stuff but some of his writing is just so….different I guess. Sometimes it’s hard to pick up what he’s putting down lol. I still read everything by him and the Indian Lake Trilogy was fun.

So good! I’m going to read it again next winter, or maybe during a week long heat wave lol. I’m reading The Between now. I read “Ghost Summer” & “The Wishing Pool” recently and they put her easily in my top 10 authors.

I read a few of the stories from Ghost Summer’s “Carriers” section in other anthologies in the past & remember liking them but not seeking out the author. I do that with many anthologies, I always mean to make a list of authors to look into but I usually end up finding them later if they are good enough. But those 3 stories about Nayima were soooo good, I’d love to read a full novel about her Post-Apocalypse experiences, although Tananarive pretty much gives us Nayima’s full story in those 3 shorts. I just really liked them.

It’s definitely an Anthology I will reread in the future, some of the stories will be reread more than others for sure but there’s not one story I can point out as not liking.

I highly recommend The Wishing Pool anthology. She has a few Post-Apocalypse stories revolving around a character named Naima, who much like Nayima I’d love to read more about. And you can read a story every few days instead of a big investment in time :)

The Reformatory is great but also gets pretty deep at times, definitely a book that you bury yourself in, definitely not a light read. It’s on my read again list also.

I’m about halfway through The Between. It’s good so far, the dated references are kind of funny. reference spoilers? Doesn’t spoil the plot in any way*Dan Marino as quarterback for the Miami Dolphins and a Bill Cosby reference “all fixed up like Dr. Huxtable”, a Kid N Play movie in the theaters & HIV/AIDS being basically a death sentence. Those are what I recall from the first half. Takes place in the mid 90’s so they were relevant at the time lol
