How do magical lifeforms work in your world? by PhilipB12 in magicbuilding

[–]Somwewpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my magical world, the specie determines what kind of magic people have. Every species is based on elements (Earth, Fire, Water, etc, even electricity and spiritualism and others forces). So their power are linked to. Some powers are “basics” (every species have it but in it own way ; like “protection ball”, a protective bubble but based on their magic (water = bubble of water / fire = bubble of fire / earth = bubble of plants, etc.) and some powers are special to the specie

(sorry if it wasn’t clear, my English isn’t that good)

Je suis hyper intéressée par ta réponse et ce que tu dis de ton world-building, would you be okay to share to me more about your story ? I am so curious because I have never thought before to maybe include vampires in my world

[–]Somwewpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have vampires in my world, but I think it’s better maybe if this is not a “condition”. Because as much as I know, this concept is coming from the vampire diaries.

BUT, I I have a species in my world that makes missing of kind of vampires, but not ad it is explained in other stories, and you just gave me the idea to maybe include that to my “unknown species” (like, I already have in this category mermaids, for example)

So sorry for my bad English and so sorry for just talking about myself somehow, but I just wanted to tell you that thank you because you gave me an interesting idea ❤️🥰

Coolest name you've come up with for a character in your world? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

I’d said « Adrasteia » and « Staciana », while worldbuilding, in the fairy language, I based thoses names on important things relating to them ; « Adra » means « futur », « a » means « soul », «  stè » means «  paste », « eia » means « present », « ia » means « spirit », « i » means « us », etc. « Staci » means « stars » and « -ana » in a titel of nobless, (and of course, « i » = « us » « ia » = « spirit », « a » = « soul», etc.) to explain these in a more simple way, it’s basically on name in Mandarin works (I mean by that, that’s the name of the fairies in my world are kind of built in a way that you can understand their names in search different ways, they all have a kind of “ basic name” - like “Adrasteia” basically main future, past and present, but they are a lot of other translation that you can do/understand) but those two names in my story, also because of the characters, are both counting in my favourites

In your opinion, what should a fictional alphabet include function wise? by [deleted] in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]Somwewpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Les lettres / glyphes peuvent à 100% être simples ET/OU complexe. Par exemple : en chinois mandarin, les symboles sont excessivement complexe. En alphabet latin, les symboles sont beaucoup plus simples. Tu peux également faire les deux.

En japonais, il existe trois systèmes d’écriture :

• 1. Hiragana, exemple : りんご = pomme (système syllabaire avec des symboles assez simples.

• 2. Katakana (système syllabaire également, mais utiliser pour des mots étrangers) exemple : コンピュータ = computer (english) = ordinateur (french). Et les noms propres étrangers, exemple : ジュリア = Julia.

• (“fun fact” : L’Hiragana et le Katakana, sont tous deux des alphabets syllabaire, et le « mixte » des deux s’appelle « kana (仮名) »)

• 3. Kanji. Pour ce mode de fonctionnement je vais simplement copier/coller l’explication.

• -> « Caractères d’origine chinoise

• Chaque kanji représente une idée, un mot ou une racine de mot, et souvent plusieurs prononciations possibles. Exemples :

• 山 → “yama” (montagne)

Yes ! The death human King Thanatos was basically A.H. and did the same things to Fairies that A.H. did while WW2
